I stayed there 14 days for managed isolation. First the nice things: @ the beds are wonderful comfortable @ food was stunning. You could choose out of 3 options for each time (bf, lunch and dinner). I only had one curry I didn’t like. @ people are very friendly and try to help to make your stay more comfortable @ roomsize is big enough @ big bathroom Now the odd things: @ my window was so dirty outside. Maybe not cleaned for 5 years. I hardly couldn’t see through @ the furniture is not my style and a bit old fashioned @ no vacuuming for 14 days. I would love to do it by myself, no chances @ the noise of the fans outside was ridiculous high level. Might be the air conditioning system. 24/7 @ there was a toilet smell in the bathroom. Was a bit ugly.... Hope they will update the rooms soon. And cleaning the windows...

Room on the 5th level was well sized with a view over the Courtyard , initially a little awkward having the blinds open during the sunny period of day as people when pacing in circles tend to look into your room, I accept in circumstance like this you suck it up and do your own thing and forget what others who may be gazing up into your room are thinking - most will be feeling the same way with someone looking out the window. (stuck in confinement sun is important) The room was clean and tidy as you would expect. The Food was nothing more than lousy (Bear in mind I am a paying Quarantine person NZ$3,100.00) The food was served in plastic containers to your door 90% of the time cold and the other 10% slightly warm. I commented to reception, but nothing changed. The choice was limited and the menu more suited to eastern tastes. Thankfully we have Uber eats but this is another cost. If Uber eats can deliver a meal still hot to your door, why can't the hotel? My first Laundry bag was late. We had an evacuation which was poorly managed walking down the emergency exit everybody stopped, unsure as to why but possibly the emergency exit doors were closed or nobody knew where they were meant to go, there was no security or staff to guide or advise us of the situation (If it was a real emergency who knows what would of happened) Once outside we were in an area where no social distancing took place. Finally when allowed back in we were only allowed to enter the lift 1 bubble at a time (Imagine how long it would take being at the back of the line in the cold) after a good 15 mins they finally had the most intelligent idea to bring parents with small children to the front of the line. No staff or security at any stage gave instructions or advised what the evacuation was for other than you could see water pouring through a light fitting in the entrance. On a positive note the defence staff and Nurses were friendly and helpful and cannot thank them enough for the job they are doing in during this uncertain time.

We had a comfortable 14-day stay at the Grand Millennium in managed isolation after returning from overseas. The hotel is a bit old and tired (it’s the old Carlton Hotel) but our room was spacious and had a nice view and a very comfortable bed. We have high standards, and the hotel may not have been used to preparing room service meals on such a large scale, but the meals were pretty terrible - we would have been upset if we had been required to pay for them.... Although not part of the hotel normally, we thought the Ministry of Health and the NZ Defence Force did a pretty good job, running a tight ship, with friendly service and plenty of information and were always available and present in the hotel.

Considering noone wants to end up in an MIQ Hotel - if you have to, feel very lucky if you get The Grand Millenium. Large clean sunny room and large bathroom( with a window bonus) good food and plentiful. Extremely well run with fabulous staff, nurses, security, police and military. Thank you very much!!!

Checked in room 314 on the 25/9/2020 @ 10:30pm to isolate with my 77 year old mother in law cos she needs a carer. Room is nice and spacious, everything was well set for a 14 days stay. My whole career has been in hospitality industry, I have been working in hotels for 20 years as a room attendant and 12 years as a Supervisor then Assistant Housekeeper. First thing I check was the beds, one bed was clean but the bed next to the wall which is the bed I picked I opened up the sheets and found heaps of hairs on the bottom sheet, so I rang straight down to receptionist to let housekeeping know and I told the lady if she can organise fresh sheets to deliver first thing in the morning since it was late in the evening, but I will sleep on top of the sheets, she said Ok. It takes 3 phone call from me on our 4th day for someone to deliver fresh linens. Same evening my mother in law wanted a cuppa tea, plug the kettle @ the power point on minibar area not working, I rang for another kettle got a brand new kettle but still not working, find out the power point faulty due to the other socket along side the window skirting coming off from the wall, ( was like that when we checked in) rang down receptionist, 2 guys rang back Saturday morning asking what is wrong with the kettle told them it’s the power point and the other socket, they said they will send someone after our 3rd day ( which is after our first swap) no-one came, I rang again and receptionist said sorry someone will definitely come on Monday 5/10/20to have a look. It’s now Monday still no one has come to check. Overall ❤️ the room nice and clean Big Thank you to the chef and their team food is very delicious, love the salads so fillings I skip some meals. Thank you Happy Isolation
