We were initially given a room on the third floor which had a step- in shower over a high spa bath - definately not suitable for we two friends who had mobility issues. After we mentioned this to the reception staff they organised for us to be moved the next day to a 2nd floor room which had a walk in shower and was much more up to date than the original room we had been given. The views from the room were exceptional and apart from a bit of noise from adjacent rooms with doors banging we were much happier. The hotel is very well located in a lovely neighbourhood within walking distance of some excellent cafes and restaurants. Unfortunately our experience with the breakfast at the hotel restaurant was bad and ugly! We opted for a menu meal and I can honestly say it was the worst experience I have ever had anywhere and I've travelled a lot! I had an omelette which was plonked on the plate and when I asked if I could have toast the waitress said it would be an extra $3.50!!! We could not believe this but decided the wholemeal toast may help with the taste of the omelette but unfortunately it was a thin piece of toast that had hardly been cooked at all. Such a disappointment. The other mornings we went to the Domain Ayr cafe which was a walk away and their breakfasts were so lovely, tasty and made with love.

The Parnell Hotel and Conference Centre is located in one of Auckland's most beautiful residential areas: Parnell. From there, many of the city's sights can be easily reached on foot or by public transport. There are plenty of parking spaces on the hotel grounds.
The reception and service are impeccable. Our flat was situated on the fourth floor, from where we enjoyed a wonderful view of the city, the harbour and the sea with Rangitoto Island. We needed no TV: The views during a day with changing weather conditions are just magnificent.
Our two bed rooms, the living room, the small, well-equipped kitchen and the bathroom were clean and comfortably furnished (including nice toiletries). The flat was cleaned daily and the bath and kitchen towels were replaced when necessary.
The hotel's own restaurant, Gladstone, offers a reasonable hot breakfast and a good selection of delicious dishes for lunch or dinner. We enjoyed the wines as well as the various dinners. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The choice of restaurants in Parnell is very good. During our 10-day stay, we enjoyed a few fine meals out.
The Auckland War Memorial Museum, located in the centre of the huge "Domain" park, is around a quarter of an hour's stroll away. It is always worth a visit. So is the Anglican Cathedral, almost just round the corner from the hotel. Not to forget the local parks with a rose garden.
We will gladly return to this hospitable place: The price-performance ratio is sensationally good.

We had a very nice 2 night stay at the Parnell Hotel and Conference Centre. Friendly staff, nice room and beds. Adequate cooking pots and utensils. The location is close to the city centre/shopping streets, and it cost us around $10 to get an Uber to Queen Street. Overall, a 5 star hotel.

Igloo Cruise booked us into this hotel for a 4 night stay prior to our cruise. On arrival, after a 24 hour flight, hotel looked quite nice however we were directed to the "annexe". This could only be described as a hostel or cell block. The décor was extremely poor and scuffed, the windows were thick with green mould and there was a smell permeating from the room. The sheets were clean as was the room but possibly due to the state of the maintenance it appeared worse. We went over to the restaurant for breakfast and I asked for a half portion of French Toast. I was told they do not provide half portions only kid size portions. I said that would be fine but was told they couldn't serve me that as I was an adult. They seemed to think it was preferable to give me a full portion and for me to leave half of it. Can someone please inform me the sense of this? We decided not to stay there, however as we had so much luggage for the cruise we left the bulk of our cases taking only what was required. We returned to collect them 4 days later and pick up the taxi that was booked for us. We informed reception of what we were doing but no one was particularly interested. Receptionist just looked at me when I said the room was unacceptable. Not a great start to an extremely expensive holiday. Igloo Cruise also have some answering to do for placing guests there in this first place. It is also out of town and a taxi to Auckland Central was $35.00 each way. I am unable to add Photos but perhaps just as well as they are quite shocking.

Dear Christine, We always want to do right by our guests and in this case we have not met your expectations, and for this we sincerely apologise. Our management team has investigated the room you stayed in and there some areas that do need some extra attention and will be addressed. We have been progressively renovating our bathrooms across the property on both our North Facing Wing and the South Facing Wing you stayed in, and this work is being continued throughout this year to complete all of our guest rooms. While we do not offer half portions of our dishes, the kids sized portion should have been available to you, I’ve spoken with our Restaurant and Kitchen staff around my expectations on this and that whether it is a regular or kids portion that it be available if requested. Guests enjoy our location just out of the city centre away from the noise but easily accessible via frequent public transport. We sell AT HOP cards from reception to enable guests to travel. There are many rideshare services available which are more affordable than taxi services, our staff are always available to answer questions on available options to get around. Once again our sincere apologies for your experience.

This hotel suited us well. We were two friends travelling and the room was spacious with two double beds, and a small patio. We opted for a room with a kitchenette, and it was clean and well stocked with dishes, etc. This ended up being our favourite location. Although not in the heart of downtown, we were in the Parnell district, which is lovely and safe with many fun restaurants and shops on the main strip of Parnell. I prefer to be away from the areas that are too busy and overpriced, and, liking to walk a bit of distance (under an hour) we were able to walk into the CBD on days we needed to. There is also a bus that connects the area to downtown. When walking a short distance in the other direction, we discovered a rose garden, lovely park, and Judges Bay, all well worth a wander (and maybe a swim in the bay if the weather is right).

Stayed on a business trip and wouldn’t stay again. Perhaps the rooms not on the ground floor have less noise but it was awful in room 102. Doors banging loudly and people walking past to get to reception through a corridor past the room. It has a balcony which is a bit of a joke with views of cars parked immediately in front in touching distance. On the positive side it was very clean with a very comfortable bed. Ants took over the tea and coffee facilities at night so watch out for anything with sugar. Reception pretty ordinary- didn’t ask how I enjoyed my stay when I checked out. Probably because they knew what the answer would be. Plus good walking distance to restaurants

We arrived 3am and the hotel receptionist could not have been more helpful, check in was sorted quickly even though there was a.mix up with the booking and our travel firm had booked the 3 nights on two separate bookings. The receptionist (sorry not sure of his name as very tired) told us not to worry as he would sort it and just make ourselves comfortable in the room and if any issue he would let us know in the morning. The room was spotlessly clean, air conditioning on so cool, pillows were good quality and comfortable. There was a separate area with cooking facilities as well as kettle, plates, cups etc. The shower was a little old but water pressure great and plenty of hot water. If you look past the building design this hotel is great. Took 20 minutes to walk into the city and with Parnell a very short walk away you have great bars and restaurants on your doorstep. Fabulous find in a great location. Checkout was the same efficient service.

I really enjoyed the Parnell Hotel due to its location, parking, ease of access to and from the rooms without going through reception. The room was spacious comfortable and especially enjoyed the bathroom in a separate space instead of coming straight of the sleeping area like most. Thank you

We were in a 1 bedroom suite with balcony for 2 nights. Nothing new to add to the many other positive reviews of this hotel except for one thing that could be better. The bathroom needs a ventilation fan and without one, we had to open its window which then lets in noise as people passed by/chatted in the passageway. The main bedroom with 2 Queen beds has a door and heavy curtains and we slept very well. We could also see the Sky Tower out the window from a certain angle. However, our third person chose to sleep on the sofa bed in the living room (where the one TV is) and was disturbed by some noise, including hearing the shower going on from next door.
This is the only accommodation we had that provided moisturiser on top of the other usual amenities. This was much appreciated, as we found the weather in north NZ very drying. It was also very useful to have extra mirrors on the walk in robe of the main bedroom.

Dear Woozie3, thank you for staying with us recently and taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback, due to the location of the bathrooms we are unable to install ventilation due to the need for entire floor system so we're not just expelling steam into the corridor. As an entire floor solution would be quite a large capital project, we have focused instead during bathroom renovations to install the likes of a showerdome and heated mirrors to reduce the impact of steam in a bathroom. On our Southern facing wing we are able to install individual ventilation fans in the renovated bathrooms there due to the bathrooms being located away from the corridor. As operating conditions continue to improve we will continue other rooms for bathroom renovations to deliver modern facilities guests are looking for. We hope to welcome you back again on a future stay.

Hi there, we do not list as having a shuttle service, we do provide guests on ways to get to the property including, taxis, shuttles and public transport.
Hi there, our Premium Balcony, One Bedroom Balcony, and Two Bedroom Queen, Two Bedroom Double & Two Bedroom Full Facilities apartments all have kitchenettes which have standard size refrigerators.
Thank you for your enquiry. We do not have a pool on-site at the hotel.
The closest pool is the Parnell Baths, located at 25 Judges Bay Road, Parnell, which is a salt water pool, approximately 8 minutes’ walk.
The Olympic Pool and Fitness Centre is located at 77 Broadway, Newmarket, which is the next suburb to Parnell, approximately a 20 minute walk away.
Hi there Andrew,
In terms of the most affordable way (and can be one of the fastest ways avoiding rush hour traffic) is catching Airport 380 bus to Papatoetoe and catching a train into Newmarket this costs just $3.30 with an AT HOP card otherwise cash would be $9, the AT HOP card can be purchased at the iSite centre in the International Terminal if you are intending to be in Auckland sometime travelling around the city. From newmarket you can catch a Inner/Outerlink bus from Newmarket into Parnell getting off opposite the Cathedral, then its a short 5 minute walk down St Stephens Ave onto Gladstone road.
I hope that helps. Please get in touch directly if you have any other questions.
There are more places to choose from in the Auckland Central area.
