Great location. Service was friendly. We spent some time in the day spa enjoying a couples pamper treatment. We had a relaxing massage, a pampering facial, finishing off with a hot spa bath together with bubbly, it was all well enjoyed, highly recommend. We felt the dress code was too relaxed in the hotel, while they advertise a certain standard they don’t enforce it. Men were walking around in beach wear, quite a few in jandals and board shorts, not what you expect for a 5 star hotel, especially when dining in their restaurant, we felt over dressed in smart casual, lol. Be mindful that the clubroom closes early, 7:30pm, that caught us off guard (our fault for not checking) as we’re use to later times at other hotels we stay at. But otherwise our stay was great, room was clean, lots of extra towels in the bathroom which was nice and they did a nice little congratulations plate which was lovely and appreciated :)…
It was great to see the hotel buzzing this week with school holidays and Aussie tourists. Service was as good as ever, however, so chapeaux to the staff. Breakfast was much better with the continental part of the menu served as a buffet. Overall an enjoyable stay!
Twice now my wife and I have celebrated our anniversary at this hotel and have experienced the friendly and thoughtful service of the staff. The location in the heart of the viaduct makes it a great place to stay.
Arriving at the cavernous main entrance there was nobody or nothing to guide you where to go. Surely if the hotel can’t position a portier at the entrance to help people at least put a simple sign indicating where la réception is. After we wandered around for a while someone did rescued us. The receptionist was friendly and efficient. We were on a ‘Platinum Package’ with club access, upgraded room and le petit déjeuner. The room poorly designed. The bathroom had a deep bath which my wife really enjoyed but very little shelf space for toiletries etc. Comfortable bed, but ‘French Flair’ in positioning the television. It was facing directly into a pillar with nowhere to sit. To watch it from the bed or the couch you have to try and swing it around but the screen was still at forty five degree angle. The club lounge staff were friendly and helpful. For evening drinks there was a well chosen selection of wines, four red and four white, beers and spirits. The selection of canapés were enjoyable. This brings us to le petit déjeuner in La Marée restaurant which I have covered in a separate restaurant review. Check out time. The friendly and efficient receptionist was concerned that we had not have a five star experience and to her credit immediately offered a discount. Thank you. We are booked to stay at the Sofitel Wellington in a few weeks time so it will be interesting to compare the two. But the Sofitel Auckland, as my old school reports would say, ‘Could do better’ …
This was a perfect location with friendly, efficient and professional staff and the hotel had plenty of good facilities. Any request I made to staff was actioned quickly and politely and nothing seemed to be a hassle. This was a memorable stay.
We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at Sofitel as we always believe in Accor Hotels impeccable service, so we chose them instead of Park Hyatt. Which is equally price at 800NZD++ during the holiday season. Checking in was smooth, immediately you can feel the luxurious ambiance upon entering the lobby. We enjoyed the pool, hot sauna, gym, personal touch in our room and spa package to complete our celebration. We initially had some concern raised during our stay and to make the story short, we are impressed and humbled especially how Stephen addressed our concern and showed a true 5 star hotel customer service and experience, for us ordinary people to be appreciated is the sweetest and earn the loyalty they deserve. Will be back again and hope to celebrate soon our next important milestone in life with Sofitel. Also, special mention to Lisa of Housekeeping, Brett and especially Stephen, you are a rare gem in this industry and true ambassadors of what Sofitel is all about!…
Sofitel stay review There were some issues with Accor plus booking website and things got all mixed and messy to book a 3-night stay at the hotel. We ended up ringing directly the hotel for the booking and we meet Angle the assistant Assistant Front Office Manager who sorted it out all perfectly without any trouble and arranged a perfect welcome for us, with a Petit Fours on arrival, a room that had a great view facing the city and the viaduct basin, we were absolutely delighted and happy what she had arranged for us. Not to mention the lovely present she handed over personally for our two grandsons which are living in Perth which we have not seen for over two years due to covid. We had triple A service from all the staff and all with a friendly welcoming smile. Food was excellent, you could not fault we had four dinners and breakfast, the duck was one of my favourite dish but all dishes were delicious and nicely presented by very friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and nice and clean beds very comfortable we will be back for another long weekend and more of relaxing Sofitel time…. A big thank you to all staff for looking after us and making our short stay a very memorable occasion. Peter & Edwina …
Sofitel Hotel is one of the most beautiful place I’ve been to. Me and my family went there last month for my birthday and the staff were so friendly and full of smiles the food and the waiters and waitresses are lovely and always checking up on the guests the place is so clean and beautiful, the view is so beautiful. Will definitely go back there soon. Thank you so much Sofitel Hotel ❤️❤️
My husband and I stayed 2 nights in a Marina View Club Room, which was lovely, but what sets this Hotel apart is incredible customer service. Booking, checking in, valet parking, housekeeping, LA MARÉE and especially the CLUB MILLÉSIME team members offered personal service that was above and beyond expectation, catering to our individual needs and ensuring my husband and I felt like valued guests. I would like to give a special thanks to Michelle, Helen and Brett who made this stay one to remember. We will definitely stay here again!
We love staying here. Its close to everything. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. The rooms are lovely and the bed is excellent. TV is in a funny position but we hardly watch it so no real drama. The restaurant is excellent.
