My partner and I stayed here three times during a month in New Zealand. Staff and visitors friendly and cheerful. Staff helpful about reservations and changes. Some social nights--movies, games. Free parking. A car was helpful, but buses are available. Groceries within a few blocks. The private rooms had good mattresses, ability to lock door to protect luggage, good air...

I was only at Bamber House for 1 night and arrived late but the stay was very pleasant. The room was tidy and well maintained. The bathrooms were clean and there were large spacious living areas to relax in. If I am ever in the need for easy overnight accommodation again I will be using Bamber House

This hostel has a great friendly vibe, and I found it very easy to meet new friends. The facilities are all there, plenty of room for everyone. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the location, even though not in the centre, is still very convenient.

Lovely staff, lovely place and a really friendly atmosphere. My husband and I stayed in a double room with ensuite bathroom. Although the walls between rooms were very thin, we slept well each night. The communal areas were good, as was the kitchen and the hostel is very conscientious about recycling and the environment which was lovely to see. Thank...

I stayed here for only one night and liked it a lot. I arrived very early in the morning and could access the common areas easily with a key code I received via email. The bed (dorm) was comfy and all shared spaces were clean and well maintained. What I loved most was the garden and veranda. Sunbathing and relaxing...

We stayed here just one night before flying out of Auckland the next day. We'd booked a deluxe double with ensuite. The room was a cabin out back and smelled strongly of damp so we kept the window open all night. It was clean but the sheets were stained and towels sweaty smelling. Shower was strong and hot though. The...

This is definitely the best hostel in New Zealand and I absolutely loved it! The Bamber House feels like home and people keep extending their stay here all the time. The hostel is clean, big lounge areas and garden, helpful and friendly staff (heads up for Branson, who was very helpful). I've stayed in hundreds of hostels in my life...
