Honestly this is my favourite Perth hotel. Just had our second stay and I just feel so happy and at home here. The beds are comfortable, the shower is lovely, breakfast is yummy and location is great. Our first stay I was taken aback by no fridge in the room but the fridge on the mezzanine is sufficient for any storage needs we had (ie leftover UberEats 😂) and there’s an abundance of filtered water conveniently bottled in glass to take to the room. The coffee machine for guests 24/7 is great too! I feel like the hotel has made decisions with sustainability in mind that at first seem weird but after experiencing them I appreciate them. A review I saw mentioned this is a glorified hostel. Perhaps that’s why I like it! The communal areas feel like you could make new friends there while doing some work or enjoying a drink, but the rooms and bathrooms feel closer to a luxury hotel.
Location is fantastic, especially for someone like me that doesn’t drive in the city, being so close to the train and bus stations. The trees around the hotel create a relaxed vibe right on the edge of busy Northbridge. I’ve honestly never heard much noise during the night but you are in the nightlife heart of Perth so it’s to be expected.
Breakfast - seems minimalistic at first but everything is QUALITY. A barista is there during breakfast to make awesome coffee. I dream of the spinach scrolls and fig fruit bread after leaving!
Thankyou Alex Hotel, you have a happy customer here!

Great little find, just around the corner from CBD. Needed a quick overnight stay in Perth so I could catch up up with a mate - suffice to say Alex Hotel met my needs and was in a great spot. China Town is right on your doorstep with plenty of eateries and places to drink too. Northbridge of a nighttime has some ‘interesting’ sights to see, but I felt totally comfortable walking it alone. Alex hotel rooms weren’t massive - but I didn’t need them to be, the shower was fantastic and the bed comfy. WiFi worked spot on and bottled water readily available from level 1. Check in was simple and quick, I left early next day flying back to Bali so key dropped without issue as no staff to be seen. Would happily stay here again, it’s close to train station (2 minute walk), and 15 minute brisk walk from Elizabeth Quay bus terminal too. Thanks to the team.

We pre booked this hotel for 7 nights, big mistake. The first night we were in a very small room, the bath room is close to the bed with a tinted glass sliding door near the foot of the bed. The door cannot be closed completely. We changed room the next day which costed $90.00 extra per day. However, after one night we found that the TV was not working, instead of calling in a technician, we have to move again. The last room we were in has a balcony and is facing a pub across the road, the noise was quite loud at night. All the hotel rooms have no wardrobe, no tea making facility, no mini fridge. Breakfast is included which consists of toasts, cereals, different types of breads and fruits not a cooked breakfast and is self serve. You can make tea and coffee anytime in the cafeteria which is on the 1st floor but we are on the 4th. We are both over 75 and found it inconvenient. I gave a 2 stars rating as the staff are helpful and friendly. Veronica Jones

Hi Wander663980, We're sorry to hear that you experiences with us are less than satisfactory. As we do not have an on-site technician , the best move would usually to relocate you into another room, which unfortunately was not up to standards so we do apologise. Owing to our location some noise from nearby pubs and bars are inevitable but we hope the earplugs helped. We also do not provide tea-making facilities or a fridge in the rooms due to our sustainability ethos so we thank you for understanding. Kind regards, Alex Team

Good location for walking arodnd Perth. Central for all the cultural activities. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly, rooms are very clean and have extra surprises such as pencil and paper for notes, with additional pencil sharpener. There are even ironing boards and irons available on every floor, from a store area, just take it to your room. The rooms are not large and there is little storage for long term accomodation but they have all you need, The showers are great, there is even a small balcony. The bed is a good size and comfortable. No tea/coffee in the room but it is freely available on the mezanine where you can sit back and relax, (with additional fruit / pastries). Breakfast is buffet style, very relaxed and a good choice of cereal, fruit, toasts etc. cant find any negatives about the place at all. We stayed 2 nights on arrival in Australia and one night prior to leaving. One thing to be aware if you are arriving late.... have data roaming on so that you can contact reception to open the door.

This hotel is in the middle of a very, very lively area, especially at weekends. It's good for bars, restaurants and nightlife, it's by the cultural and art centres and also just a 15 minute walk from Perth's shopping area. All staff were fairly helpful and friendly. Be aware the rooms are very compact. No wardrobe, only 2 hangers on wall pegs. No suitcase stand and not that much room about. Just a frosted glass swing door between the bedroom and toilet/shower. Breakfasts are a bit hit and miss, with things like napkins, jam, bananas, available one day, but missing the next. Sometimes a staff member about and other times not. Tables cleared and cleaned sometimes and other times it seems one has to take one's own dirty plates etc. to the kitchen trolley and tables not cleaned... strange, but true. We couldn't get a bulb in a room mirror replaced in 4 nights, which was annoying. Could do better overall.

This hotel is well situated if you are looking to frequent the cultural centre of Perth. There are a lot of local restaurants which makes dinning out easy. The hotel has a restaurant attached but you need to go down the street to get into it. There is a room top terrace where you could bring take outs. The hotel is modern and clean and the bed is very comfortable. The staff were lovely and tried to help out where they can/. Breakfast was continental with very fresh pastries, juice, toast and coffee. The help your self coffee is much better than the barista coffee that you need to pay extra for. However, I was disappointed that there was no body lotion as this is usual in most hotels, no shower cap, which meant my hair was always wet, the lighting in the room and bathroom was too low level and this made putting makeup on very challenging especially as there was no magnifying mirror. I don't understand modern hotels building without magnifying mirrors given Australia has an ageing population. The first room I was in did not allow wifi (also same in my colleagues room) and we were told most people go to level one to use their computers. I suggest this is not convenient for everyone and a wifi extender is needed to reach rooms. In addition I tried to imagine staying in this hotel with my partner for longer than one night as there is only two hooks available to hang clothes and no wardrobe, one tiny drawer and really limited space for bags and shoes. I would like to return but these features put me off especially given the high price of the room.

What a find! Charming little 6 level boutique hotel opposite the Brass Monkey in Northbridge. Cheap parking ($16 per day) at the State Library right next door. Perfect for an overnight stay after an event. Clean and modern with a really friendly comfortable vibe. Room 503 was quite compact but decked out with all we needed for a short stay and still have room to move around the bed. Kingsize bed was super comfy as were the soft feather pillows. Small balcony, blockout curtains, ear plugs supplied for any outside pub noise. No drawers or cupboards, just some hangars to hang a small amount of clothes on a bar on the wall. Breakfast included in price was on level 1 and this floor was decked out with sofas, small tables, shared table, gorgeous books, records and record player, guitar, board games etc. Fabulous savoury muffins, croissants, sourdough bread/fruit loaf, granola, selection of fruit juices and various serve yourself tea/coffee. Barista coffee too for $5. Filtered water available here to take back to the room. No fridge in rooms. Manned 24/7 with enthusiastic helpful staff. Bar on the ground floor along with chill out areas here and including a rooftop area to use. Pushbikes also available. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again.

The hotel is well located - close to the Art Gallery and WA Museum - and this is its massive selling point. We could have been in the CBD but it felt very boring in comparison. We really liked the restaurants nearby and the vibe from the area. Like other reviews the hotel is very minimalist so no kettle in the room or fridge but the facilities on the mezzanine level helped us work around these. The noise is an issue and we tried to sleep with our window open to get some cool air in but it was just too loud so we cranked up the aircon and shut the window instead. I always travel with earplugs but otherwise would have found the noise a bit much. My biggest concern was the lack of places to unpack in the room. It was very much designed for someone coming for 2 day stay whereas we were touring WA and had 2 big suitcases. One of the suitcases had to go on the floor and no amount of coat-hangers would have worked given that there were only 2 hooks on the luggage rack. Travelling with kids was also a problem as we were given rooms on different floors. I had to insist on an extra key for the kids room as otherwise I couldn't have got to their room as our room key only gave access to our floor. I think more thought could be given to this as the staff were quite young and wouldn't have been able to understand what it is like to travel with kids. The breakfast was also good and the staff were really attentive. Would definitely stay again as a couple but not so sure as a family.

They are a 24 hour reception, so if you give them an estimate of what time you will be arriving I'm sure they will accomodate you. There are plenty of taxis and Uber's in Perth available at all hours so your transport is not an issue at all. The taxis are lined up outside the airport waiting for each flight. Enjoy your trip.
Hi there. The Alex is a quirky, gorgeous little hotel. You can easily walk to the train station. Parking is in the Wilson car park attached to the hotel and there is a cost. I think it's about $12 per day????? Breakfast is awesome - you help yourself to all sorts of goodies. No bacon and eggs etc but plenty to choose from. The beds are big and comfortable. Hope that helps.
