The Mangrove Hotel boasts a picturesque and central location that garners appreciation for its stunning views and access to local attractions, creating a perfect blend of tranquility and vibrancy. While guests commend the spacious and clean rooms, opinions diverge on their simplicity and some suggest a need for modernization. The hotel's amenities and service receive mixed reviews; visitors love the friendly staff but occasionally raise concerns about housekeeping and event coordination. Despite its praised cleanliness, areas for improvement are noted in maintenance of common spaces. However, the value proposition is questioned, with several travelers finding the costs steep relative to the offerings.

Clean, neat, good location & nice grounds, particularly at the back overlooking Roebuck Bay. Staff at check in & check out were friendly. I stayed here for work in a ground floor room near the front of the property. It was quiet and couldn’t hear any road noise. 4 stars rating was mainly due to one point off for ‘value for money’ factor. I appreciate it is high season and it is Broome but paying close to $400/night for a basic room at the front makes me wonder what rooms with a view cost? That said, it was the cheapest of the ‘nice hotels’ in the main part of town.

Good position, better then Cable Beach side in our opinion (stayed Cable Beach last trip)
Room big, clean and bed great
Fruit and cold water provided around the pool was a lovely touch
Great bar with magnificent view over the way. Food very good, had the chicken wings, very tasty

Took a point off as the room wasn't ready at the 2pm check in time, went for a walk and waited for a phone call, over an hour later. When we asked if we could have a later checkout, that was fine but a charge of $50 was applied. Get that the room has to be cleaned for incoming guests but they are not all cleaned at the same time

Dear SydneySally, Thank you for choosing the Mangrove Hotel and sharing your positive feedback with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed our hotel's location and found the room spacious, clean, and the bed comfortable. We're thrilled that you appreciated the little touches like the fruit and cold water provided around the pool. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the check-in process. While we strive to have rooms ready by the standard check-in time, there are occasions when additional time is required to ensure that every room meets our high standards. We understand that waiting can be frustrating, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Regarding the charge for a later checkout, we do offer this service based on availability. As you mentioned, the room needs to be cleaned for incoming guests, and the charge helps cover the additional resources required for a late checkout. We apologize if this was not communicated clearly. We truly value your feedback, and it helps us improve our services. We hope that despite these minor inconveniences, you had an overall enjoyable stay at our hotel. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an even better experience.

Stayed here with my fiancé this week. At first we were very impressed with the presentation of check in staff, reception and our initial entrance to the room.

$1600 for a four night stay we felt we were at a boutique hotel but after a few minutes you quickly realise your at a glorified motor inn.

For newly refreshed rooms there is a lack of deep cleaning with dust building up in corners and around bathroom.

No balcony which was surprising for this type of property and the room with bay views actually looked over a small swimming pool.

Out the front of our block we had 8 car spaces which were based on first come, first serve and one evening we were forced to park out on the street to return to find damage to the car. (UHF antenna bent backwards)

The swimming pools were old and small and do not look like the pictures on various booking websites.

Upon arrival we were offered two cocktail vouchers but on the first night after waiting in queue for 15 minutes for service we gave up and went elsewhere as there was only one person making cocktails.

We went down for dinner one evening and after waiting an hour since ordering a starter and mains we went to find out where the starter was and advised they don’t split orders up and everything comes out together and the meal will be a further 20 minutes away.

Front office staff were attentive throughout our stay and a great coffee machine in our room but for an average of $400 per night we are overall disappointed as we felt we could have been staying at a 3 star property elsewhere for a fraction of the price.
We have since moved to Cable Beach and have a one bedroom apartment for much less ($310) per night where the room is much larger than the mangrove, private laundry instead of paying $4 a load at mangrove and 4 huge swimming pools with a cocktail bar by the main pool.

The hotel is in a superb location but is tired and needs updating. The reception staff are uninterested. The restaurant johnny Sausage cannot be booked via reception, is unmanned during the day and doesn’t answer the phone pus you cannot book online. No priority is given to hotel guests.

The location is convenient if you want to be within walking distance to the town centre, noting you will need a car (or catch the bus) to get to the beaches. The view overlooking Roebuck Bay was gorgeous, and probably the best thing the hotel has going for it. The rooms were also pleasant and clean, and I'd say value for money in that regards. The food and beverage side of things was a big let down though. The food was average, and probably overpriced for what you get, and service very slow to order both food or drinks. Breakfast was the exception however with the same guy their each morning who was very friendly and always attended to us quickly. Just after breakfast service, I went to order a coffee to sit down with while overlooking the view (seems a reasonable request in the morning). I was told that the coffee machine is closed down for two hours between 9am and 11am between meal services. What sort of a resort doesn't provide coffee during hours I would consider when people want coffee the most. Another big let down from that department. The hotel has two swimming pools - the main one (more attractive one) was closed down during our stay due to maintenance, which was not communicated to us beforehand. They do have a smaller pool with about two long beds around it. The water was that freezing however it was impossible to swim in. We managed to get one of the long bed pairs by luck, and sat around there for two hours. Everyone that came in dipped their feet in for 5 seconds, but I didn't see one person jump in the water except for a couple of kids. I'm not surprised given the water temperature. This hotel has a lot of work to do to get up to standard.

Okay so the view is stunning. And the cocktails are great but that is about it.

You are paying $300plus a night for a very basic room, because of the location.

The staff! I know it’s busy but I don’t think any one working there was happy at all. There were a lot of rolling eyes and the service at the bar was very very poor. I had multiple encounters with the staff where they obviously didn’t want to be there. Tried to make banter or get a smile without much returned. Even over heard them state how much they dreaded their shift.

There were glasses left by the pool for literally days, and in the mornings the glasses from the night before piled up on a table with flies all over them.

Do not bother eating at the restaurant. You need to line up in one line for cocktails, another for wine/beer and then another for food. Three lines in total, each 10-20 mins long, and as soon as you leave your seat it is snapped up by someone else so it’s impossible.

The view is great. But I think that is all you pay for at the resort. They don’t even help you with your bags to your room up the stairs.

Honestly, if you want to pay for service, do not bother with this hotel.

I would recommend staying somewhere else and going here for cocktails only before sunset to avoid disappointment.

At the recommendation of locals we arrived at around 4.00pm to ensure a good table for the 'stairway to heaven' occurrence. We secured a table at the recommended spot which provided superb views of the bay. We ordered dinner some time later. Meals ordered included various pizzas, grilled fish and the Moroccan chicken.

Unfortunately the grilled fish was very dry and locked taste. The other meals were tasty. In terms of pricing it is a bit 'toppish'.

This is a great location in Broome but the downside is that it is too popular as a result.

Worth a try but not a cheap pub.

Hi Brudii, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review, Being the best spot in Broome to watch the amazing natural phenomenon of the staircase to the moon we do get quite busy and yes it is advisable to arrive at the venue early, get settled in with a drink, some food and relax to the sounds of the didgeridoo playing before the moon rises. Thanks for visiting! James

Great hotel at the mid range of prices in Broome. Overlooks Roebuck Bay and is only a short walk to town, close to bus stop and the front reception staff were happy to call a taxi for longer trips.

Restaurant was able to cater for my gluten free wife and the quality of food was good. Everything in Broome is 20% more expensive that Perth but we could not complain in regard to the meal sizes.

Accommodation was spacious in the suite with a view to the pool and the bay. We discovered the sun was just too hot to leave the curtains open during the day so we did not really get the benefit of the bay view.

The pool area was big enough for the number of guests staying, this may not have been the case in high season.

The gym was great for the size of the hotel. My wife and 8 used it every day of our stay. Regularly cleaned during the day, water cooler and fresh gym towels. Big mirrors, TVs and aircon on a 2 hour cycle.

We would return to the Mangrove (and Broome) in the cooler months.

Spent 5 nights at the Mangrove, loved the location due to stunning views over the bay and proximity to other facilities such as Matsos and town centre. Staff friendly, lovely welcome at reception. Breakfasts were good, nice portions and fresh.

Our room was spacious, my only criticism is the cleanliness. The room could do with a big clean, dirty skirtings, cobwebs and the daily clean is non-existent, its just a quick make up of the bed, change of towels and replenish of toiletries. Based on the price per night paid for this room, I expected better so that was disappointing. When in the common areas of the hotel, we noticed big cobwebs, clearly been there a while. Mangrove - shape up your cleaning team it's letting you down!

Hi Sue T, We didn't stay at the hotel but most hotel reception desks are very helpful for booking tours. We booked a few tours online. Willie Creek Pearl Farm, Pearl Luggers Tour, Camel Ride on Cable Beach and a hovercraft tour. All very easy to find via google. Good luck! :)
