I needed a sensibly priced hotel for a last minute trip to Melbourne or a mix of family and business matters, and found this hotel through a website. It isn't exactly near the city centre per se, its close to Parliament station on the city loop train system. The booking and payment experience was brilliant - went through the hotels...

Looks like nothing from the outside walk inside and it's very old fashioned looking. My room was nice, small clean and comfy. I had a twin room with two single beds, which were very comfy. My room had a small bar fridge with coffe and tea making facilities, a TV and an awesome little heater. The room had no ensuite...

Was really disappointed. Stayed in the family room with my family. Was happy to use communal bathrooms however found there was urine all over them (not sure how this is possible bus seems it is). It was a very cold night and the kids were freezing so I asked reception if we could perhaps have another three prong oil heater...

This place looks nothing from the outside but is the perfect accommodation if you are on a budget. We had a private twin room. The room was clean and very comfortable with a flat screen TV. Free wifi throughout the building and there were no problems with it. No extra costs for luggage storage, printing of boarding passes or linen....

Second time I have stayed in this inner city Melbourne hotel. Yes it is very basic, but if you are after a great location and dont spend much time in your room anyway it is just great. It is within walking distance to all the city, great for walking to the MCG, and there are trams and trains just around...

My stay at the hotel (6 days) reminded me of a residential college at a university. A clean and adequate size room with shared toilet and kitchen facilities nearby in the corridor are good for a quiet and enjoyable stay. As it is located in the centre of Melbourne, only a short stroll will reach the Parliament, railway station, Swanston...

Stayed in the studio room for 7 nights, which fit myself, my two brothers and grandmother. Was a great location, and the size was great considering how little we paid. Would recommend, and will definitely be going back!

This hotel is perfect for a weekend in Melbourne- its cheap, right in the city centre, and the rooms are totally adequate. I would definitely go again. Wouldn't recommend for a romantic weekend though.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
