Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
My room was totally as pictured in its advertisement. Hotel is located right across the street from the Sheraton, and a block and a half over from the trolley station near the Treasury Gardens. Desk staff was extremely helpful in helping me navigate Melbourne. Only negative was having to walk up maybe 20 plus steps to get to the front desk for check in.
Had a couple of nights here for a trip from Adelaide with my son to see the footy and catch up with friends. The rooms were a decent size and had a double and single and very clean and tidy. Its nice to see an old building re-purposed. We arrived late at night but the check in process was explained clearly ahead of time and the service in person and by email was polite and friendly. The shared facilities were really clean and the location perfect for cafes and trams at the top end of the CBD. Next door was a car park if you came by car and 24 hour convenience stores within 3 minutes walk. Highly recommended.
Has everything you need, budget location. Basically a hostel without the common room. Kitchen is small. Washing machine didn’t work but they said they were getting it fixed. Great central location. Staff were friendly.
It's certainly not super modern, but the room was clean and spacious. I had a private with my own bathroom. Location is in a prime area of the CBD so can't go wrong with that. Good coffee options located just acrosss the street.
