We got the opportunity to stay in this area when our renter offered his apartment (located here). Briefly to say is this apartment building belongs to both private owners and Unilodge. Being centralized located, you can have free team zone access around Melbourne CBD. Just grab a map; and install the public network app in your phone. You are good... More

First try on airbnb and a disaster. Advertised as a great apartment it turned out to be a one room bed sitter in a block of about 1000. Small it is a bed squeezed beside a cupboard, pillows hard as rocks , had to ask for a towel. An all pervading smell of cooking in corridors and lift, no toiletries,... More

Staying here tonight after booking at short notice for the AFL grand final. My partner & I are a little old for the shared dormitory that we found. 6 beds in a one bedroom appt???? Luckily we had the recognized bedroom with a door and not the partitioned single beds or the double bed in a wardrobe, lol, but it... More

Stayed here for an academic conference between semesters. Hence not many students around. Great location, free trams right outside. Free wifi available just across the road at the public library. Shame about the design of the venting in the building - this allows food smells from other apartments to permeate the corridors and get into others rooms. This want necessarily... More

I haven't stayed at Unilodge on Flinders but I've spent six months at Unilodge@Melbourne, in Swanston St, , Carlton. As I can't find it in the Tripadvisor's list's I'm writing here as I feel I have to warn any student that is considering it as an option for his/her long term stay in Melbourne. It is the worst place I've... More

This accommodation is horrible. The apartment that I stayed at had cockroaches problem (30 cockroaches in the first week) and several other people in the same building said the same thing. Management were slow to take action. I was paying $400.0 per week.

I had stayed in self contained room for three months and I loved my stay here while studying in Melbourne University ...Everything you can think of was at walking distance ...Melbourne Central station was just 1/2 minute walk away ...Safeway was just opposite the hotel ...and Aldi's was even walking distance of 5-10 minutes ...It was at a perfect location.My... This hotel is very basic, if your just in town and need something cheap and central then this would be for you. Rooms are small but comfortable. Located just outside the Melbourne Central St. exit on Swanston St. so everything you need is at your door step. Rooms are clean although some items in the kitchenette could use replacement. Would... I stayed at this hotel for three nights with three other students - we were part of an exchange group coming to a school elsewhere in Australia, but first we wanted to explore Melbourne for a couple days, so a relatively inexpensive hotel was picked since we would not be spending any real amount of time in the room. This... More

Our experiences are nearly identical to the previous review. We stayed on the 12th floor; self contained rooms are quite spacious & pretty modern. They could definitely be much cleaner - there were marks on the walls in many places, the floor in the kitchen was sticky. The bathroom was large, but the shower was the smallest I've ever seen... Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
