Excellent convenient location in the heart of the shopping area of the city. Right next door to Emporium and across the road from Myer and David Jones. Spacious apartment for the central city. And at a good price.

A few towels had hair that did not belong to me. Arghhhh Not worth the money. Nicer places also inner CBD. No dining available other than a takeaway menu. Noisy in my room. Ear plugs and rain music failed to dim out the huge roof industrial fans.

Very central, great rooms. Everything you need. Always stay Mantra when possible. Staff were helpful and efficient. Rooms on the 4th floor were a little dark but otherwise comfortable, modern and tasteful.

This was well below expectation. Servicing of the room was very poor. The dishes were washed for us (the one thing we did not expect). The linen was not touched even the towels etc left on the floor in the bathroom expecting them to be changed. The bed was pulled up, not made up and there was very little if...

The location was amazing but the accommodation we had booked was pretty basic. We booked the basement apartment which I assumed you could see the street but you were basically in a big internal box with no natural light, which felt very strange. We stripped down one of the twin beds to make up the sofa bed in the lounge...

Our room (401) was exceptionally noisy at night. The street noise made it very difficult to sleep. The room needs to be properly soundproofed. Also the location of the aircon was baffling. Because it was in the kitchenette area, the bedroom was too hot. Also having to pay for internet was a little mean spirited. This was in the only...

First, I will say it is in a great location, very central with Myer and David Jones amongst other big retailers right outside the doors. Room: Not so great. Our first room was the loft style room, which was cool in theory until you walk in and you can't close the door (which is heavy) until you have lifted your...

Great location, right in the heart of Melbourne's shopping and entertainment area. Room was comfortable and clean. Would recommend. Only watch-point is we were at the 4th floor up a stairwell. We had a pram (and toddler) so the stairs were an inconvenience.

Hotel run down and service was unhelpful. Lifts took a very long time, room wasnt clean and very dark. Our airconditional was not working and when we complain, it was not fixed. We had no choice but to endue 2 nights in 30 degrees heat after paying over $400 for the room.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
