This hotel urgently needs renovation and better management! There seems to be no communication between cleaners and reception. I stayed here five times over the last 20 years - but will not return! - kitchen tap was very loose on arrival - freezing zone in fridge heavily iced - air conditioning very noisy, we couldn’t use during the hot nights - bedding: old fashioned sheets, no enclosed doona covers - thin walls (4. floor), noisy family next door kept us awake all night
We arrived on the Wednesday and the room was clean, well equipped but quite dark. Our 2 bedroom, themed, apartment backed onto another building, and it was better to leave the privacy blinds closed otherwise people could quite easily look in - the other building is quite close. In the bathroom, it had been otherwise well cleaned aside from the shower drain with a large clump of hairs. I advised reception of it, showing them a photo, and the reception staff member agreed that it was 'gross' and would organise for house keeping to sort it out whilst we were out. On return to the apartment two hours later, the shower drain had still not been cleaned and I was advised on the phone that housekeeping had finished for the day. Not satisfied with this, I went down to reception and the on-duty manager came up to the room and removed the hair, himself, with gloves - thank you! The air conditioner is only in the lounge area, and we are currently experiencing quite a heat wave, so the bedrooms were quite stuffy and warm most of the time. There were two windows in the main bedroom but, if left open, would only bring in noise from the external air con units and the construction noise from a building next door. I did open the windows during the day time on a couple of the days, but as the weather was warm by the afternoons I would close them. The beds were comfortable, with different pillows available on each bed. Housekeeping also did a good job whilst we were there - I could never fault their cleaning on any of the days we stayed. The room was always tidied, beds made, towels folded, etc and you could just tell that the room had been cleaned. We used the pool twice during our stay. It is a very good size, indoor pool, with towels available to borrow (in the area). The first time we used it was after tea one night. It was very very noisy and some people treated it like their own pool - boisterous, slamming pool toys, playing chasing up and down the pool. It didn't impact our kids greatly but it was disappointing to see. The second time we went in the morning and it was a much better time - the kids could really enjoy their own play time without having to watch out for adults-who-should-have-known-better. There is currently no restaurant or in-room dining, unless you call Uber Eats in-room dining. We ate out every night, by choice. Whilst the accommodation is apartments, they are not fully self contained. I should have done more 'homework' to note that there is no washing machine/dryer in the room. There is a laundry room near the pool but it was going to cost too much to use it. It was also unclear if I had to provide soap powder or not, as there was no dispenser in the laundry room, nor any note if it was available at reception. In terms of sleep quality, the kids slept warm most nights but did mostly sleep. In the main bedroom, it was also warm and as noted before I could not open the window as it would have become noisier. The main bedroom suffered greatly from the building works being carried out from a nearby site. This is, of course, no fault of Pegasus' but there was no warning on their website about this, nor any information about it on check-in. The first night was bearable, in terms of noise, but each night the noise seemed to go on longer and get louder. By the third night, the 30th December, the work site noise went on til nearly 2am, and then started up again by about 6.30am. So not okay. If I had known about the building work going on near the Pegasus, I would not have chosen to stay here. Was the themed room worth it? No, not really. We had a Mario themed room and the gaming unit was quite dated, which also meant the games were also quite dated (the kids quickly dismissed). It wasn't a big issue, but it was disappointing as I thought it would be a fun addition to a room and instead it was a waste of time/money. Location- Not too far from a couple of tram stops. It's not central CBD but it's only about an 8 minute walk to Melbourne Central. Very close to the Queen Vic Markets. In summary - we had a clean, well set up apartment. The themed-ness of the room seemed a waste of time due to the console being outdated. The apartment backed onto another building so there was a lack of privacy if blinds were opened - which led to staying in relative darkness to gain privacy. No restaurant or in-room dining. Great pool but pick your time wisely as it is popular. No laundry facilities in room. Some apartments are very near a current building site and noise can go on till quite late at night. Air conditioner is only in the lounge area, so the rooms can get quite stuffy, however the beds are very comfortable. Generally responsive staff. Good location.…
beware l have stayed at this hotel on 2seperate occasions and have not been paid my deposit back !!!! l have called numerous times and front desk will leave you on hold for extended periods or tell you to re check your statements and hang up. lm very disappointed and will be lodging a complaint with accc Beware this has happened to many of my friends also that have stayed at this hotel seems like a scam to me
The apartment had everything we needed but was soulless and depressing, especially as it faced another high rise building that was being either prepared for pulling down or renovation. Everything was fine and as per advertised but it is a place we would not stay at again as, for the price, it offers no atmosphere. The lift system is a nightmare if you are in the tall building as the those lifts are used by everybody despite the sign asking people on the lower floors not to use them. That system is not working. We spent a lot of time waiting or in lifts stopping on every floor.
We were put in the smallest room with revolting rubbish outside on the ledge. That was our view. Old socks, old masks, toilet paper rolls, an old bath mat. I showed pics they moved me to a double room with my adult son, hence the twin room. The room was larger but stunk of stale smoke. I was told due to occupancy rate we were given that room, what a disgrace. On arrival I was greeted with hello sir. Will not be returning.
Excellent value, great location and super quiet. We had a night away from the children and I slept for about nine hours! Lots of great cafes and restaurants nearby. The GM, whose name is Stuart I think, was highly professional and helped us with a minor issue. His team were also outstanding.
Second time we have stayed but won’t be back when in Melbourne next. As the previous reviews mention, no restaurant but advertise they have one on trip advisor. We didn’t realise that it was Aus school holidays and every time we were in the pool it felt like a kids pool with inflatables around and kids in the spa pool splashing and annoying other guests. Our room wasn’t serviced for 1 day out of the 4 nights we were there. Guest services were fine, however arrived early morning and couldn’t check in, went out till about 2pm and the room still wasn’t ready, feel like 3pm is a late check in. Location is a bit out of the main drag of cbd so prepare for lots of walking to get back to hotel, otherwise close to Queen Vic market.
Disappointing. Advertises as a “full service 4 star hotel” but doesn’t service rooms on Sunday, a fact not disclosed when booking or checking in. Our “executive suite” was advertised as providing access to the “Executive Lounge” - which wasn’t operating. Ridiculously inadequate shelf/bench space in the bathroom wash one example of thoughtless design. Another was placement of the microwave and the room safe inside cupboards at floor level.
Once again I found this true value for money Friendly staff, smooth check in, and scoring excellent on my top 3 of good bed, good shower and quiet A bit out of the CBD, but only 10 minutes walking to Bourke street or 15 minutes to Southern Cross station Definitely my default place to stay whenever visiting Melbourne
My second stay in this apartment.Room size is big for 2 queen size beds. A small kitchen to cook or heat up food. Would recommend if you willingly to walk abit (8 mins) to Elizabeth st. Near to victoria market. Metro supermarket is not far. If you are driving. One day carpark is AUD$25.
