Decided to try Greenhouse again on my way back from America and all I can say is I'm still very disappointed and would not recommend this to any traveler. The "long term" dorm I was put into is tiny with 5 beds. There are 6 lockers, 2 of which are not able to be locked due to the catch being...

I stayed at the Greenhouse for 3 nights, in the dorm rooms, I had 5 beds in my room, 2 bunks and one single bed. I found my room very clean and quiet as well, I didn't have any trouble to sleep at night. The view is the wall opposite your room but that's okay, all you want is to...

Despite signs designating the bedroom floor I'm on a quiet zone and promises of night porters doing walk-throughs (debatable), I defy anyone to sleep. Do yourself a favour and pay a few bucks more to stay at the Citygate Hotel around the corner. It might seem cheaper to stay here but it's really false economy unless you're traveling as a...

Hi Clare, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. Please understand that as a backpacker, we are quite a different product to the CitiGate. Still, if you would like to send us an e-mail with some more information about your stay, I can look into...

Stayed here for an end of season sporting trip. Great location, clean showers and rooms. Our room was a little small and crowded but we werent in there much so wasnt too bad. Some of the floors are designated "quiet floors", so be wary of this if you want to play music and talk loudly. Good staff who looked after...

Great location and friendly staff. The rooms were clean for a bigger hostel with plenty of space. I met some great people and had a great time. They can also organise trips and tours for you. I would stay again.

Really nice hostel, well located just next to Flinders street station. The majority of the rooms don't have any Windows, it's good for you if you want to sleep all day (it helped with the jetlag). There's a lot of activities offered by the hostel and it's really Worth the time. The tuesday night free meal is great and delicious....

I stayed here over the weekend with my cousin who was exploring Australia following a work trip to Sydney. I had been staying with family in the suburbs and wanted to stay in the CBD, but budget was a constraint. I have stayed in hostels before, and this one was ok. Having stayed in hostels before, I knew that earplugs...

Nice clean hostel with great location and helpful staff. The free dinner on Tuesday is really good. The place runs out of cutlery sometimes, but that is because some guests tend to leave them on the table and take their sweet time to chat after meals. ps: Thanks to Germaine from Friendly Travel for sorting out my ground tour to...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
