I was there for a 4 days and for 3 of them some sort of fan on the roof was making extremely loud noises 24 h a day. I couldn't sleep properly. Except that, bathrooms were ok. Stuff were sleeping very poor english so we could not understand each other. Location was very good in the main Centre- good public... More

I booked this drunk without reading the reviews. Turns out it's not the bargain I expected. One rock hard pillow isn't enough to pull over my head and drown out the noise of next door having sex. The toilets have bodily fluids all over the floor. The showers aren't any better. I'm only staying here one night, and that's one... More

my review for this hostel so far. Terrible lighting for makeup. Pillows hard as rocks. No lamp in my freaking room. Creepy Asian desk man that tries hitting on you. Other guests sound like elephants walking down the hallways. Lots of stairs, not good in heels. 'No alcohol' signs everywhere???? note to self: do not return. 2/10 Fine if you're... More

It's one step below the average hostel in Melbourne, but you have to consider that it's in a great location, almost next door to Victoria Market and the price is considerably lower. You'll pay for instance 33$ per night while you'll end up paying 50$ at a different hostel. The kitchen is small and not much equipped and the rooms... More

Poor ventilation in the female shared dorms. Kitchen is filthy, but the location is so convenient and the staff and guests are chill. It's alright if you just use it to crash when your half conscious. Close to trams, close to shops , close to trains , in the heart of the city

I have been to many accommodations, suffered many nightmares but this was by far the worse. I have stayed here before and well it was average before, facilities were not good at all but it was a place to stay at the last minute. This visit changed my mind, I would rather sleep on the streets next time. There was... More

Booked this place through a reputable website, however we arrived to find a dirty bed with one sheet and a room that looked nothing like the advertisement. That was the good part. Although we saw a few genuine backpackers, the majority of the guests seemed as if they were out of it. Fairly sure we saw a drug deal go... More

My boyfriend and I booked a shared room for four, when we arrived they stated they didn't provide mixed four bedroom dorms (how was I bake to book online then?) so we would have to be separated for a night. We booked a week. It took us an hour to check in! Three nights later we were still apart, in... More

This review comes with an R18+ warning... I saw another person here do a poo in the shower 2 different times, and the cleaner poked it down the drain with a stick, obviously many people threw up, but dont worry the vomit got washed away by quickly spraying a hose on it the kitchen has 0/16 gas burners working, yep... I booked a private room. The room smelt bad, the sheets looked like they had been just slept in. Actually there were no sheets, just a blanket and a pillow. I left the room with my light on and when i came back, the light was switched off. Not secure. I checked out. Couldn't imagine staying the night there.Do not... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
