Room is OK. No free Wifi. Front Desk Staff not so friendly.. Especially the Asian Staff. Central A/C seems like cannot be Controlled from the A/C Control Panel.. The location is just opposite the train station and near to tourist attraction area.

I usually stay at the InterContinental on Collins when in Melbourne, mostly for overnights. But I decided to try DoubleTree after reading good reviews here on TA. Overall, I had quite a good stay and rate this DoubleTree a solid 3* ranking. In terms of location, DoubleTree is really good for those who need/want to be near the action of... More

Quick friendly service, good location just opposite the train station. Parking may be an issue though we found Street parking free on the weekend. Good breakfast and good recognition of hhonours benefits. Rooms facing the station on high floor have great views though with street noise.

Double Tree Hilton located opposite to Flinders Street Station in CBD. Walking distant to major streets. Free tram available just 2 mins walk. Public transport are easy to access. Taxi queue in front of the hotel. We rent a car drove from Melbourne airport to the recommended Secure car park charge of AUD30 per day offered by the hotel. The... More

Needs Improvement: When asked what view we're getting at the counter when checking in, the reception staff replied 'River view'. That was pretty suspicious provided that we were assigned to the 4th floor. Lo and behold when we got to the room and looked out the window, all we got was a sad back alley and a dumpster. Wonderful. That... More

Always a pleasure to stay at the Double Tree in Melbourne. Centrally located, well priced and good facilities. Recommended for business or short stays in Melbourne CBD area. Staff are friendly and available to answer questions.

My friend booked it for us and placed my name in the booking when he did it online. However when I arrived, reception said it wasn't on the list and I couldn't check in earlier as my friend wasn't present with me. He basically said there was nothing he could do. My friend made a call and then suddenly he... More

The location of the hotel is excellent, right across the road from Flinders St station, short walk to the city, bars, restaurants, Federation Square and the National Gallery. Free trams around the city stop just outside the station. The hotel itself is recently renovated, the rooms are clean, well equipped and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. On the... More

Stayed here for two nights. The room isn't large, but there was plenty of room and the bathroom was nice size, with plenty of counter space. The location was ideal for our visit to the Degas exhibit at NGV and South Yarra. We also walked over to the casino for so excited fabulous people watching!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
