This has had a lot of bad reviews but our 2 BR apartment (room 36 Gordon Place) was pretty good but there were a few annoying things. The beds, kitchen & all but 1 towel were clean & well presented. A few annoying little things were: no towel rails, slugs came into the lounge & bedroom overnight, tall lamp fell...

Was very disappointed with the control of noise level after 10.oopm. We travelled for a medical appointment and to have such a disturbed night did not help the issue. Also found room very warm at night but could not leave window open because of noise

Great location, close to everything. Little trouble with the air conditioner and TV reception which we didn't pursue. The pool area looked really good, although the communal area did get a bit loud due to the echoing.

One night weekday stay early Dec 2016 - for 3 adults. Exceeded our expectations - we had a wonderful apartment & will stay again. Close to theaters, China Town, Greek precinct - shops.... Wonderful heritage building... Stairs & lots of them - so would not suit all..

Beautiful heritage place to stay except the air conditioning did not work - detracted from the the stay - Nice and private with a nice little pool - was a perfect location for us and the staff were friendly and tried to help

The hotel is a heritage-listed building built in 1884 with plenty of character and the location is perfect, walk or tram distance to all the Melbourne attractions. The staff were also very nice. However - The courtyard is enclosed with a glass roof that has no openings to allow for any air circulation at all. Hasn't anyone ever heard of...

All staff but one were wonderful, the building and facilities are great (the pool is lovely!). The swipe cards locked us out and the room I had had no fan and was really hot. Toilet had some issues too. Overall nice though

Great value for a two bedroom apartment, the room was spacious but looked a little tired, room became a little stuffy and there was no air conditioning. Beds were comfortable and pool area relaxing and clean.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
