The Hotel Causeway is located at the rear of David Jones just off Little Collins and is within walking distance of shopping, theatres and exhibitions. Very well appointed rooms, very clean and an excellent breakfast is included in the rates. It is very quiet, with no traffic noise.

The room was nice and clean and good size - the hotel located right in the action but very quiet. Lots of resturants close by and good nightlife. Quick walk to casino, shops and Theatres. A great spot if you are looking for value and somewhere to rest.

We have stayed here a few times now because of its location great spot in the middle of the CBD. Central to everything we need to do and see close to some great restaurants. Rooms are clean and provide everything we need. Staff are always helpful and courteous.

Right in the heart of Melbourne with everywhere within easy walking distance We were there 2 nights and the only real problem was the apparently endless bin emptying during the early hours on both nights, which even with the windows closed was incredibly noisy Also worth noting that the bottom of Little Collins Street is closed off to traffic between... The rooms are a nice size with a generous bathroom. We were put in a room that backs onto a lane way that unfortunately had works going on (which we were not informed of). So a very early morning for us which was disappointing given we get 1 night away a year from our 3 kids and was looking forward... More

Visited Melbourne for a few days recently, Stayed again at Causeway Hotel, Whilst very basic it's so central to everything in Melbourne city, Beds comfortable but pillows awful, Asked to change but they didn't have anything different, Had to buy a pillow as I just couldn't sleep on the ones they have, Continental breakfast is very adequate, Good quality fruit... Staff at the front desk appeared not to notice I had arrived. A friend came to visit and practically walked past them without their enquiring where she was going which she found strange. Rooms were okay but musty and outdated (I know the rooms are cheap, but clean the mould off the ceiling and bathroom curtains, for the love of... More

Location is wonderful. Walking distance to the best lane ways that Melbourne has to offer and shopping facilities. Victoria Markets are a ten minute walk way which is worth a visit for the most wonderful cheeses seafood and fresh produce. Great to sit and listen to local gossip with the local shop owners and cafés. The hotel is a little... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in September for a holiday rather than the trips we usually take for medical reasons, so we decided to get a spa room. The spa was a large round bath and seemed to be extra deep. My mum and I stayed twin share and we got a king bed and a sofa bed rather... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
