We loved our short stay there and were impressed with extra little touches such as the solo harpist in the foyer. Attention to detail was excellent. When we couldn't get the air conditioning working in our room it was attended to very quickly. Unlike many hotels the room was as good (or better) as it appeared on line so there...

Enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay at the Windsor, our accommodation was upgraded allowing us to have a lot more room and king size bed. Restful sleep except for outside rubbish removal truck noise at 6.15 am on Sunday morning! Old worldly hotel with a lots of character, interesting history and charming ambience with a welcoming harp/piano music. Lovely presented breakfast...

Our stay here was simply fantastic. Staff, the room, service, food, attention to detail - was all fantastic. First time we stayed here and will definitely return. I already am a big fan of the afternoon tea and have always enjoyed the Cricketers Bar and it's all in a great location.

This hotel seems to enjoy bathing in the light of former glory. Its all long gone though. Its run down, carpets have large stains indicating problem with wetness and aircons in room has the sound of a tractor. Staff is nice but does not make up for the general atmosphere nor price. Location is splendid though! In Europe i would...

What a classic, beautiful place to stay in Melbourne. Charming but huge rooms with high ceilings and soft, comfy beds!! Just far enough out of the Busyness but close to the park, the river and all things sporting in Melbourne. If you ever come to Melbourne you must stay at least once, if not everytime!!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
