Gorgeous place, we got upgraded to a very grand suite and had a lovely time. The view out the window was amazing, watched a few weddings on the steps of Parliament house. The room was fabulous and service excellent and location is great for anything in Melbourne, we enjoyed a long walk through the parks and along the yarra.

My husband and I were celebrating our Anniversary with what we thought would be a romantic stay in a Romantic building with Old World Charm. What we got was very different. I was so very disappointed with the room. I have stayed in a lot of 4 and 5 Star Hotels and this one does not come even slightly close... More

A lovely old hotel, staffed with attentive and professional people. Service is a paramount here and the staff made every effort to make your stay one to remember. The décor is from yesteryear and unfortunately so are the creaky floorboards but that is part of its charm. Not normally where I think of booking but it is now with stage... More

A perfect weekend away, the team at the windsor were amazing. They were attentive and hospitable even after the stay (as they helped us find our lost keys). It's always a privilege to stay at the hotel and genuinely have loved both stays now and in 2015.

All aspects of service and amenities were in keeping with the graciousness of the well-maintained heritage hotel. Even a leak which developed in our room from the heavy rain was dealt with expeditiously and we were offered transfer to a suite if we wished. Response to the unexpected is a great test of a hotel's management skills.

Great service and brilliant to stay in such a piece of history. We could not have asked for a more attentive staff. They bent over backwards to meet every need without being obtrusive. A harpist in the foyer on Saturday and Sunday afternoon was a lovely touch together with lovely crunchy complimentary apples on the counter. Only down side is... More

Everything was very professionally handled. Although we only booked a standard room, the fittings were excellent and created a lovely atmosphere. It's position in the CBD allows for easy walking to so many places, including the MCG.

We had a beautiful overnight stay at the Windsor. The room was lovely and larger than I expected and filled with natural light with a view over Bourke St. Staff were very friendly and our request for an extra bed was very cheerfully accommodated. Only suggestion is for real milk to be provided in minibar instead of long life milk.

The Windsor is our favourite hotel in Melbourne. It always feels like you are staying in an old friend's manor house. The staff are excellent and the rooms are very traditional. I was very sad to hear that they are closing for renovation and only hope they don't lose the old world charm I love about the place.

We spent the night at the Windsor and enjoyed the old world charm it had to offer. The room was the largest hotel room we have ever had. Breakfast was amazing and would highly recommend a night at the Windsor.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
