My partner and I were very impressed by the service offered at the Windsor. The lobby and staircase were wonderfully presented. It was the little things that were not at the standard of a five star hotel. The stainless steel around the buttons inside and outside of the elevators were covered in dirty finger prints. The rooms were clean but...

We were really looking forward to spending our 28th wedding anniversary in your period hotel. But were very disappointed with our room. Carpets were stained, bath with chips in the enamel, huge amount of dust /mould in the air vents. The VIP extras for using Expedia were not mentioned on check in. Waiting 50 minutes for our breakfast to arrive...

This beautiful old hotel trains their staff to treat every patron like royalty. We were treated like princesses - nothing was a bother, and the sheer majesty of the setting while having High Tea took my breath away. I would love to take my mum there next time.

Great place to stay. Wonderful greeting as you get out of car. Very clean. Huge rooms. Comfy beds. Would stay here again. Not enough staff at reception. Too slow to get through queue. Valet parking expensive.

We were not explained the charges to my credit card properly on arrival... when we returned to the hotel after taking in the local theatre production we stepped into the lift at the same time as two women who were loud noisy and quite drunk.. one of the staff came to the lift and asked us to keep our noise...

It was old, sweet and classic and I loved the young men at the door who opened it almost every time. I've always wanted to stay at the Windsor and now I have. Not disappointed at all. Even with the creaky and sometimes wobbly floorboards.

a little old and tired rooms and bathrooms need attention.crickerters bar staff were rude and appeared to be very unhappy to be there. The bathroom when we arrived had a couple of hairs on the tiles. Also i was a little unhappy that the air conditioner was quite noisy as we had it on to circulate air in the room.

We originally paid for the base room but found it too small. We asked for the next room up and paid an extra $40 p night for 2 nights over the weekend. This was all done with no fuss. Very handy for the Princess theatre and we would stay again if we were seeing a show.

We hope the Windsor stays true to itself and maintains its old world charm. It was refreshing to experience the quality food and the genuine un- rushed good service which has become so rare these days. WELL done and ThankYOU !

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
