I stayed in room 4703, magnificient views of the bay and Melbourne. Cleanliness was great, staff impeccable, had to arrive and leave immediately for a function...complete smooth sailing checking in etc Room service breakfast was exquisite and no problems with check out and bills this time. If you want super classy service and a very grown up ambience, the Sofitel...

Stayed here in September. The rooms are a very good size and interesting enough have wooden shutters instead of curtains that keep the sunlight in the morning. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The room had some great views. The bed was very soft maybe too soft. The hotel is in a very good location. Shame there was no...

All my expectations were met, from check in throughout the stay, right through to the check-out process. The staff manning the parking and the synching with the porter for delivery of luggage to the room, were excellent and the process was seamless. Facilities were as one would expect and there were no downsides! The room had magnificent views (as did...

I stayed here while in Melbourne for a weekend of shopping and catching up with friends. The Sofitel is at the so-called Paris end of Collins Street but all this refers to is the proliferation of designer shops rather than any resemblance to Paris. Melbourne is Melbourne! A plus is the no 48 tram out the front that will take...

To be honest, I have been quite put off by the Sofitel brand in recent months. As a Club Accor platinum, many hotels (Los Angeles, Budapest, London, etc) seem to avoid granting the upgrade listed as a formal perk or make it sound like a huge favour, and hotels themselves have been hit and miss. Well, all of the above...

Very good rooms with comfortable beds and good views. The staff are lovely and offer complimentary fruits. Many facilities available including a well-serviced gym as well as a spa. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location and seriously good views over Melbourne. Lovely rooms, although the bathrooms are small. For the price you pay and nice big bath would be great! The service was excellent and all staff friendly. Our room service food was poor however - such a disappointment when the food at No. 35 is so fantastic! Probably wouldn't stay here again,...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
