The bathrooms are 0.5m way to small. I'm 6ft 2" and my wife is about 5ft 7" and even she felt cramped. We had booked a few weeks before staying and asked for adjoining rooms but when they went to unlock the door they had to be break it to get open. My parents didn't have any hot water in... More

We recently went to Les Misérables at Her Majesty's Theatre, which was simply a matter of crossing the street at the lights, and we were there. Very accessible to Chinatown, Melbourne shopping, and Federation Square. It provides a good opportunity to stretch the legs a bit more to go to Queen Victoria Markets and Lygon Street - we never caught... More

We stayed here for a few days fora conference. I had read the reviews so I asked for a high floor, so there was not the noise issues other people have described. The bedroom is reasonable, but the bathroom definitely requires work. Thankfully no mould, but the silicone was coming away from the tiles/walls and was dirty! The food was... More

Unfortunately I feel it is overpriced for the room type given. The traffic outside was loud a bit like middle eastern country accomadation. Service was non existent blond lady on reception said sorry for that no chance of a move... Beds extremely confortable and restaurant fantastic for dinner. However breakfast not much left by 9.30 due to unexpected amount of... More

I enjoy staying at this hotel. It is in the CBD and close to shops, eating out and public transport. I requested a quite room but thought the noise was excessive. Our Queen suite room faced Chinatown and was quite noisy. Perhaps double glazing would help fix this. Next visit I will choice a room on the opposite side of... More

Excellent locality, service and very good room. A bit outdated, but comfortable and clean. Food was delicious and served promptly. Would definitely consider staying there again. Enjoyed the City High experience package and that was excellent value. Included a two course dinner and breakfast, a bottle of wine, two complimentary drinks from the bar and valet parking!!

We stayed at the rydges for the weekend to go to the footy. We got there and there was scaffolding out the front and the pool was off limits as it was under renovation. Maybe they should have told us when we booked. But we paid full price. The location was good but there is better. Room was adverage. Not... More

A disappointing overnight stay at this hotel in my own home town. We were attending a wedding in the city so we decided to stay in town. A claim for 4 ¼ stars standard at what seemed to be a reasonable price, including breakfast, enticed us to book the hotel. Upon arrival by car it was hard to find the... More

Another Hotel that always surprises me with a fabulous luxury stay. Staff are always helpful and I always feel like its a little bit of homely luxury. Stayed in a suite with 1br separate to lounge, spa and held conference in same room which was seamless.

I was here overnight with a big group as part of a work conference and have no complaints. The hotel managed to efficiently organise check in/out so that 100+ of us didn't have to queue up individually. Both the event catering and breakfast was good, and location was convenient too being in a theatre district with food and entertainment options... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
