Plus- breakfast was lovely, staff at breakfast fast, efficient and very nice. Great central location. Roof top pool, GREAT in summer. Negatives-twin rooms are single beds. Just be prepared for that incase your expecting 2 doubles. Reservations disappointing. slow to respond, reservation was incorrect. Was given a welcome drink voucher which was only available to use the first night of... More

Dear HBBoy, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, I am sorry to hear that the turn around time with the reservations team wasn't up to scratch and even more disappointed to read that the reservation was made incorrectly. Let me assure you this is not the process we pride ourselves in and generally the... More

I am a regular Rydges customer and this is the second time I have stayed at this Melbourne hotel. Pros: - centrally located adjacent to Chinatown - fantastic reception staff at check in and departure - free internet - great breakfasts Cons - I was on the 10th floor overlooking Exhibition Street - extremely noisy - Small bathrooms, access to... A beautiful stay. Concierge were more than helpful, we needed a room upgrade and they straight away organised it. Family friendly & central to the Melbourne CBD. Will not stay anywhere else. The Rydges hotel is a must stay at hotel!

Had stayed in Sydney CBD just prior to arriving in Melbourne. We were on the 4th floor at our Sydney hotel (not Rydges) and did not sleep well as it was not very well soundproofed. We could hear the neighbours entering and leaving their rooms. We could also hear traffic noises very clearly outside our window (beeping horns, screeching tyres)... More

We stayed at Rydges for 3 nights whilst visiting Melbourne to see Les Miserables. First of all, it's in the perfect spot. Especially how cold the nights were, we literally walked across the street to the theatre. Perfect!! Service at the front desk was lovely. Very helpful staff. Unfortunately despite the website saying the rooms have flat screen tv's and... More

This is a very well located hotel which is only a few blocks from the shopping precinct. Steps away from theatres and Chinatown was a bonus. Check in was fast and efficient.I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a spa suite. Room well appointed, spacious and very clean.Exceptionally comfortable bed. Some of the negatives though was the noise all through... More

Paid an extra 50$ for a king spa suite, was basically a one bedroom apartment with a huge bathroom. Spa bath was worth it! The basic rooms (friends were in) looked a little run down and not as modern as the suites (up to floor 5 i think). Hotel was nice and if you sign up for the priority you... More

Review for Room 2019 No doubt about it, location is everything here. We came down from Canberra to see Les Mis and it was simply a case of walking out the door and across the street and walk into Her Majesty's Theatre. Flinders Station is a nice casual stroll for a few blocks. The staff were friendly and professional. Check... More

I stayed at Rydges Melbourne for 3 days in August. I had a room on the 18th floor, which had good views and was pretty quiet. Breakfast served at the restaurant was good with good choices. Check in and check out were fast, staff fast and courteous. The hotel itself is well positioned on the edge of Chinatown, with good... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
