We were in Melbourne the ANZAC weekend and stayed in the Queen spa room. We were greeted by a smiling face and a couple of free drinks as we'd had a stressful trip so far, which was a nice gesture. We were very happy with our room; found it was a great size, very comfortable bed and loved the little... More

We stayed for three nights in a deluxe room which featured filthy, stained carpet, worn bed linen complete with holes, curtains on their last legs, chipped and dirty paintwork, a hole in the upholstery of the armchair, and the noise from the folk in the next room watching tv. Even the carpet in the lobby was dirty. First impressions count... More

We recently stayed here for 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a One Bedroom apartment. Thankfully it was quiet as requested. We could hear a little noise of traffic etc but ok. First upgrade ever!!! The bed was lovely and comfortable. Just curious has anyone bought the "dream bed"??? The apartment was lovely with lounge, kitchenette,... More

I hadn't stayed at a Rydges Hotel for sometime. My experience at them has always been a fairly 'pedestrian' affair. This hotel however, is not too bad. Nice foyer area, prompt and polite Service upon checkin, room was OK, room service good and fair value for money. Location is also good with everything you would want in the Melbourne CBD... More

As a Rydges member we have stayed in a few of their hotels. This one would be on par with most 4 Star hotels. It's very handy to Chinatown and not far to the shopping district. Our room was comfortable. Breakfast was just okay. We were annoyed that other guests only had to pay $15 for theirs and we had... More

Booked a twin room for myself and teenaged daughter. We were offered an early check-in on arrival at 1100 or we could have waited for a requested higher room with a view. After an early flight, we decided access to a room seemed better than another few hours wait. The lady on reception said to have a look at the... More

Rydges Melbourne is a modern hotel located approx 30 mins from Tullamarine /Melbourne Airport by taxi, and diagonally opposite Her Majesty's Theatre on Exhibition St. If you are wanting something close to Chinatown or the theatre district, Rydges Melbourne is a solid choice. It is about a ten minute walk to the city shopping precinct where high-end fashion and jewellery... More

As someone who heads to Melbourne from country victoria for meetings, or dinners with friends, we always look for an affordable hotel, where we know it has great location, good car park, comfy bed and great service, and that is what sums up Rydges on exhibition. We always choose to stay at Rydges on Exhibition as we know that their... More

Stayed in the Queen Spa suite. Bath too small for 2 people. No one helped us with our luggage on arrival. The noise was terrible. You could hear doors closing in the night and traffic on the street. Very expensive for an average room.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
