We hadn't stayed since 2011 and have just spent a week at Rydges for the Australian Open tennis. Faultless. We got an upgrade for our stay which, together with the fast efficient check-in, was a great start. Room & bathroom spotless. Comfortable bed. Quiet air conditioner....and a new (to us) "green credit" offer where you can get a $10 credit...

We were a family of 4 (including an adult child) staying for the Aust Open tennis. Stayed last year and decided to return again. Good decision as great value with an excellent breakfast and car parking underneath. Room was spacious and fitted us in with a sofa bed and a rollaway for the two kids. Pricing was brilliant and not...

This hotel was okay to stay in. There is on site parking of hired cars. The hotel is nothing flash to look at from the outside. The rooms are average size. Had an issue with the bedding arragements as when we arrived, there was only one queen bed when we ordered 2 queen beds. The room service was 40 mins...

Our stay at this hotel was very good, there were some issues with the bathroom when we first arrived however they were repaired the next day. There were also some strange noises coming from the pipes but not enough to cause concern. The team were great in there attending to our questions and requests, plus a complimentary nice bottle of...

Hotel is a little tired but in a great location in the theatre district /edge of China town. Bar and restaurant good with nightly specials. The lasagne with glass of wine/beer for $25 was good, as was the pre theatre menu 2 courses for $39 including a wine. King rooms facing Exhibition Street have great picture windows on the city....

Rydges is located in centre of theatre precinct - close to Parliament Train Station and Bourke Street trams - with undercover parking next door. Our room was very comfortable, clean and offered views of the city. Hotel restaurant breakfast had extensive choices and barista coffee if required. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed at Rydges, Exhibition Street for a week with a complicated booking. The staff handled this well and were always helpful and well organised. I had breakfast in the restaurant most days and it was always good and fresh with plenty of variety. The location was great- within walking distance of most tings I had to do.

Excellent well maintained suites with modern furnishings. Room service very obliging when required. Great restaurant with satisfactory breakfast and good dinner menu. Suggest one joins the Rydges Hotel Guest Priority Rewards club [gratis] as this entitles one to discounts on accommodation, meals and parking etc. Handy to Melbourne theatres.

We picked this hotel for its location next to Her Majestys Theatre. It is a clean hotel and the staff were accomodating. The room we stayed in was big (we ended up with a disabled room but didnt affect anything). Only downfall was the air conditioner. Not sure if all rooms have them but it was quite a warm tome...

Our family initially booked into serviced apartments around the corner from Rydges for our 10 day stay in Melbourne, which proved unsatisfactoy. AJ on recpetion did a fantastic job of sorting us out with a wonderful room and very good value deal at short notice. We were thrilled with the room and our 7 year old loved the roof-top swimming...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
