Stayed three nights and couldn't be happier. Location was number one attraction of this hotel and everything else was very satisfactory. The room was always cleaned every day and beds made with fresh towels. Breakfast was all you can eat buffet style and although crowded and busy there was plenty of food on offer with cereals, fruits, juices, bacon and... More

This was a top location, it was a very comfortable room, it had a good shower, thre was a sink in the room for dishes, the staff were excellent. This stay was real value for money for inner city accommodation.

We checked out of this hotel this morning, we stayed for 4 nights. We found the hotel in an excellent location, especially for shopping, going to the AFL and catching the trains and trams. We got a room on the 12th floor (top floor) and found the room very quiet and adequately furnished. The hotel is reasonably budget but it... More

This hotel is so centrally located that it's worth every bit of the fabulous price! Service is quite good and the room comes with proper heater unlike some of the other hotels that we had stayed in Australia. Free trams, paid trams, buses, restaurants for local, Asian, exotic cuisine, or even simpler foodcourt food fair, you name it, you got... More

The Mercure Weclome Melbourne is located within the same buidling as the Grand Mercure, sharing the same lobby and reception desk service, though the official main entrance for Mercure Welcome is the back street (Liittle Bourke) and that for Grand Mercure is the main street (Swanson Street). The room rates, however, are significantly different, and if you book with Mercure... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
