I stayed in a standard room and chose to stay here due to the location, which is brilliant, a few blocks from Melbourne Central Station, almost next door to David Jones and Myer and a stones throw from the bigger train stations. But I wish I'd gone elsewhere. The room was incredibly small, I know it was budget and nothing... More

We stayed for the AFL Grand Final weekend and booked at the last minute so this was all we could get. The location is great right in the middle of the CBD but the rooms are only of a basic standard. The hotel has no facilities such as room service, mini bar, pool or gym. We had a superior room... More

Located right in the inner city precinct, this hotel is good value for money considering some of the others. Good place if you're heading out and don't want to drive home but don't expect heaps of in house services. Mini bars are replaced by outside vending machines(not a bad option - stops you snacking at 2am). I use this hotel... More

We stayed here for 3 nights while in Melbourne. The hotel is in a perfect location for most things in Melbourne and the staff are very helpful and friendly. While the room was small it was clean and all we needed for our stay. My complaint with this place was the noise, we didn't get a good nights sleep any... More

Apart from the construction noise outside my window early in the morning of 28/9, the hotel is excellently located, close to shops and within walking distance to many great restaurants and various points of interest. This is my 2nd stay at this hotel and whilst I got a cheap deal ($260 p/n compared to the standard room price of $400+... More

I recently stayed here with a group of friends and we specifically chose this hotel for its location and price. It did not fail us in either category. It is in close proximity to shops, restaurants, the MCG, trams and trains. For the competitive price we paid, the rooms were more than adequate. Granted, on our floor we didn't have... More

Great location for quick shopping trips to Melbourne.Has a nice restrauant which has a great buffet breakfast at a reasonable price. Restrauant has a nice but limited evening menu. Rooms are clean but dated. Room pricing is reasonable.Would recommend for short hit & run visits

This is worse than a travel lodge, all the rooms are different and there is no continuity throughout! I stayed in two different rooms during my stay here (due to a huge!! problem with my travel agent - do not travel with austravel) my first room was big and the beds were tiny, with a little kitchenette, which baffled me... Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
