Staff at the Mecure were spot on. Very helpful, knowledgable and attentive to all our requirements. The rooms have all necessary conveniences to cater for your stay. One of the lifts was out of service during our visit whilst the other lift was torturously slow. It was very frustrating for all users in the hotel. Breakfast was so so although... More

We had a weekender in Melbourne 15-17/7/2016 Booked 2 Twin rooms and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only down side was there was no real vanity bench space in the bathrooms but that didn't spoil our stay in any way. Rooms themselves were generous enough for 2 people with baggage. Staff were courteous and attentive. They have a great ECO-incentive to... More

Spent 2 night business trip at the Welcome Hotel in Melbourne. Am a regular stayer at the Mercure but a bit disappointed this trip. Went to use the gym & was told a $10 fee applied. Room reasonably clean but small tissue left on toilet floor, and some shopping pages from previous guest left on a chair. Very well located,... More

Stayed in July. Have stayed at this hotel for at least the last 10 years and every time one of the lifts has been non operational. Long waits for the one lift that is in service. Waiting for the only working elevator was horrendous. With accomodation being so busy it was poor management not to have the second lift operating. Will not be staying here again. Under the beds had not been cleaned for some time, by the filth under it I doubt if it had been move since the renovations

I needed a hotel for an overnight stay as I had an early flight and a simple tram trip and airport bus made the commute very easy. Hotel is very well located nearly in the dead centre of town. Staff welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was good enough. However as a light sleeper, it was very annoying as the TV... More

The rooms are small and you can hear every noise in the hallway at night. The service was average and the chocolate shop next to the hotel is highly recommended. The hotel has a great entrance to Melbourne Central and is situated near China Town

Hotel in perfect location! Stayed a few times now in Melbourne and by far best location. Gentleman that checked us in was very kind. Breakfast was okay. Nothing overly special. We were personally more interested in going out for breakfast anyways. Room was on the smaller side but was clean and had everything you needed. Only issue we personally had... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
