So i booked to stay at the Mecure Welcome and on arrival realised it wasnt to my level of comfort. Very basic!!! So i asked to move to the Grand Mecure. The staff were so very accomodating and even just let me pay the difference rather than having to cancel a room and repay in full. After going shopping i...

We stayed for 3 nights based on previous reviews on trip advisor. I agree with others that this hotel is in a fabulous location. The room was a pleasant surprise, it was a generous size and positioned on the corner of the building with great views. It is only steps from Bourke St Mall and two of the restaurants I...

There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel, it is located next to Chinatown which make finding food become easy. We booked 2 rooms and they are kind enough to give us connecting room. Rooms are clean and spacious with a view overlooking Chinatown. Bathroom comes with bathtub, toiletries, hair dryer and towel are provided. There are...

I recently stayed at the Swanston Grand Mercure and found it to be a really great hotel that had nice staff, slightly temperamental elevators and excellent room service. It's located right near the trams and is within walking distance to great shopping on Collins street and Melbourne Central Centre. It's also surrounded by some great restaurants - some unique and...

Good central spot, but lots of noisy from the street. Have breakfast in The Coccoon as the main dinning area is average at best. The swimming pool is great right up high with interesting views of the surrounding city. Concierge were very helpful with all questions directed at them.

We came to your hotel at 9 pm on a Saturday (18th May) from a "dodgy" hotel around the corner. I spoke to Liam on reception who organised a room for my family at very short notice. Upon checking in it was discovered that we were on two different floors, Devi at reception took it upon herself to sort this...

Comfortable and adequately appointed in the centre of the Melbourne CBD. Close to transport, entertainment, shopping and restaurants in the city. Trams at the front door, China town and major shopping establishments just around the corner. Friendly staff and comfortable well appointed rooms.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
