This Hotel is in a great location, with all the facilities, but so very tired & run down. Its way below the quality we've come used to when staying in an Accor Property. Carpets are old & dirty, bathrooms are clean but very jaded. Bars & Dining facilities are very basic, lacking that something special you expect when you have... More

We would stay here again. The location is great and the king size room made for a comfortable week stay. The room was nice and clean, plenty of really hot water and no noise from adjacent rooms. The WiFi is a bit slow and we heard one guest complaining of noise from outside.

After the last time I visited and stayed at this hotel I vowed I wouldn't stay again but with the location and needing a hotel while the Australian open was on I bit the bullet and stayed. But now I know why I said I wouldn't be back. The rooms are far from what I expect when paying near $300... More

Really enjoyed our stay over three days. Innovative ideas to save money. Environmentally friendly. Option of a packed lunch to take to the AO Tennis was excellent. The staff were helpful regardless of the time of day or night - and even when it wasn't necessarily their role. The room was clean and well presented as one would expect. The... More

This hotel is situated in a very good central location and thats where it ends. As an accor member I used to think that standards were consistant Globally but recent experiences proove this wrong. The hotel is dark and dingy may be clean but feels dirty with stained carpet, In general it just feels tired. The reception is busy to... More

Was visiting Melbourne for a week on business and wanted a nice place to stay. The hotel did exceed my expectations. Spacious rooms, good facilities, concierge, buffet breakfast, splendid bar with excellent finger foods. The staff was very very helpful. Minor gripes no international electric points, no electric points near study or bed, no light switches near bed side.

Great location in the centre of Melbourne. Enjoyed drinks and snacks in the cocoon bar. Went for the 'superior' upgrade on recent stay; cost $30 per night. Not a big deal for a two night stay; would be very disappointed if staying longer. 'Superior' room was exactly the same as regular room except for large wasted space at entrance. Bathroom... More

Despite the great location we will not be staying again. The hotel itself is fine - bathrooms a little tired but acceptable - and the staff were pleasant, but the street noise is appalling. From around 4 PM until 4 AM there is constant noise from the buskers in Bourke St. The noise was loud enough to drown out the... More

The Swanston Hotel is really central and close to everything such as Bourke Street Mall, and everything is either in walking distance or just a tram or train ride away. A number of shops are located at the doorstep such as Haighs Chocolates. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
