Interesting little place, an old terrace house with a live in owner, the room we had was quite nice. Not all that big (as you'd expect) but with a comfortable bed and nice and quiet. The room included a small bathroom area, some cupboard space and a little kitchen. There are two parking spaces out the back which apparently you... More

At $170 for a night and 10 minutes walk to the theatres and restaurants of Melbourne's CBD, Carlton Terrace provides an unparalleled opportunity to stay close to Melbourne's CBD without it costing a fortune. Of course the rooms a small, and there's no reception or restaurant, but it's easily accessible, parking is free and it's neat and tidy. Booking is... More

Lovely room, all arrangements went like clockwork, however we were let down regarding the advertised parking, and had to park a block away. That is a matter for wotif though. Best bed we have had away from home in a while, and location location location - 5 minutes to either the Museum/Exhibition building in one direction or Lygon Street events... More

We stayed at Carlton Terrace in the Lygon Suite for a total of four nights (Tue-Sat). The location is great being very close to Lygon Street otherwise known as 'Little Italy'. The Lygon Suite was adequate and clean with a kitchenette containing a microwave, bar fridge, 2 hotplates, kettle and sink. The bathroom was quite small, but that is to... More

Our expectations were minimal and worthy of the financial outlay made. Promissed communication re access and payment was made clear, on time and with no ambiguity. Studio Drummond was clean and roomy with ample linen and consumables but the corners that have been cut in renovating the room to its current state are fast surpassing 'borderline acceptable'. That said, this... More

We chose the Carlton Terrace for a 2 night stay while visiting our son who lives nearby on our recent trip from Sydney. We chose the Studio Drummond as it was a bit more spacious and provided a fold-out bed for our younger child. While our bed was fine the fold-out was quite uncomfortable according to our 14 year old.... More

Firstly, I discovered the Carlton Terrace, when I was looking for suitable lodgings for the weekend of the Cricket World Cup. Unfortunately, I left booking to the last minute and was unable to reserve both nights back to back so, the first night my hubby and I stayed at the Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens, a self-proclaimed 4.5-5 star hotel and... We stayed in studio Lygon. While it was quiet and bed was comfortable there was no ambience to the room at all. Bathroom was tiny. Not a single drawer for clothing. Bedside table was inadequate.Impossible to read because of poor lighting. No table or chairs to have breakfast. Small room. No reception, in fact we saw no one in our... More

This isn't a B&B, so don't expect a B&B. I don't understand why people are annoyed about that? Anyway, lovely little terrace house in Carlton. Great location, lovely little outdoor patio for guests, room was large. However I think they should lower their prices a bit. We paid $165 per night on a weekend. VERY comfy bed, and the room... I was looking for quality, good value accommodation near the CBD but without the hustle and bustle. Carlton Terrace was ideal. It's just a 5 minute walk from the northern edge of the CBD in a quiet street. The room itself was very quiet. It's close to Lygon St and Brunswick St which I prefer. Plenty of good restaurants nearby.... More
