HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. Worst experience of our lives. Dirty and un hygienic. Room was dirty and smelly, blinds were broken so let all the street light in which results in no sleep. The room has obviously not been vacuumed as floor was disgusting. The beds had dust piled up in corners and beds were taped together as were broken. The...

From the very first moment you step foot in this hostel, you can feel the love. The staff just overly friendly and want to help. Check in was smooth and rather amusing with the young fella at the check in desk. We had a private room, which consisted of just bunk beds. But towels in the room. Beds comfy. No...

Average stay, located just 10 minutes walk from the train station which is quite convenient. And may take the tram that just located one street away from the hostel. The room and bed is clean, but the shared toilet located outside the room looks like nobody cleaning it. It provides free self service breakfast, bread with spread, flakes with milk,...

Booked King St Backpackers because of its vicinity to Southern Cross Station, where the Skybus drops off, and was not disappointed. I was actually checked in early and could start sightseeing in Australia right away. Also, the night I arrived was pasta night so, dinner was taken care of. My room was incredibly comfortable, save one negative: there was no...

I found this hostel pretty average. My friend and I stayed in a female 6 person room. The beds were a bit wobbly and one of the powerpoints didnt work. The bathrooms were dirty and if a toilet was flushed on any floor it instantly changed the shower temperature. They did what they could with the lounge, however it was...

Squalor, absolute squalor.!!!! The only time I've ever felt dirtier after a shower than before This hostel would rank as one of the filthiest ive ever stayed in. The only good thing I can say about it is the location is handy to most things.

I spent several weeks considering which hostel to stay at in Melbourne and in the end i chose to book a room for two at King Street Backpackers. I was rather concerned as there were quite a few negative reviews about this place and being an older couple who have been backpacking for 4 decades did not want to be...

Upon reading some reviews I think this hostel has a bad wrap for things that are just part of hostel life. As a backpacker hostel, it's basic but cheap and friendly. Staff are top notch! 24hr reception which isn't massively common with independent hostels. Had a nice homie feel to it. I will admit I was a bit on edge...

This is the worst hostel I've ever stayed in my life . Simply terrible . dirty bathroom and smelly 24 hours a day. infernal and noisy ventilation inside the room. Dirt everywhere . The assessment on Booking is misleading. Terrible. Requested reimbursement to change hostel and the answer was: no refund . Do not stay in this place. There are...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
