For $160+ was expecting alot more! The walls were extremely dirty, the television was absolutely tiny, the floor creaked, there were no face washers, very noisy even on level 5 and the shower gel and shampoo dispensers were filthy with built up soap scum. The sheets were clean and the shower was nice. Overall, would not go back and especially... More

Stayed here two nights and I must admit I was surprised when I arrived to see the general condition of the place. The room had been booked by someone else and it was not the type of place I would generally book for myself. But it is what it is. A simple, although somewhat tired and worn hotel that needs... This place is horrible. Terribly grotty. Was too scared to shower. Miss matched furniture, mouldy bathroom, stains everywhere. Wasn't even cheap. Alot of much better options for the same price. My friend booked and didn't read reviews :-( Only thing going for i was location.

the hotel is located in an excellent location within walking distance to everywhere in the CBD! Room is comfy, clean and neat! One basic hotel in a great location is all you need! Too many guests complained about its noisy of the surroundings but i find that it is not that noisy at all. Many guests also complained about the... More

An amazing location, close to everything. Car park is just around the corner. Hardware lane is a great area to eat at night! Only negative I have is the noise which can't be helped. The alley way is where you hear all the traffic and party goers. I would recommend here for the location for sure!!!

City garden hotel is in a great location, yummy restaurants all around it. The room was average the bathroom a little old cold and small. Off site parking is very close however hard to find a spot on weekends. An okay hotel for an overnighter stop over in Melbourne

Right in the centre of Melbourne is the best thing about this hotel. The room is basic and aged but has everything you need. It has a cook top and a range of cooking equipment if you want to prepare your own meals. The bed seamed small for a queen sized bed. It would be a tight fit for 2... More

Its been a long time since I have visit my favourite city Melbourne in Down Under , Australia. My trip was a last minute short vacation. Booked City Garden Hotel along Little Bourke Street. Location is good , simple clean rooms with a small kitchen. Safe area and easy accessible. Price was alright. Will stay there again.

Great location, short walk to trams for easy travel around city. Comfortable room, bit noisy at night but comfy beds helped. Bit disappointed no face washers, but seems to be coming more common in motels these days. Not many tv channels but didn't bother us. Very clean room and quite spacious for price.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
