We occupied a 2 bedroom unit for 4 but it can easily accomodate 5-6 people. It comes with a separate living and dining room; and a kitchenette. However, the room and the hotel in general have seen better days. The room for sure can use with renovation. However, the building of the hotel is interesting and I believe of historical... More

Perched high on the hillside in west Hobart, Mayfair on Cavell was well worth the stay. More at the budget end of the tariff scale but our week here was very good. Older style decor and facilities but this did not detract from what this motel had to offer. If we came back to Hobart, we would book again.

With my partner we’ve stayed in Mayfair on Cavell for 5 nights. Don’t pick this hotel if you’re coming without car as it’s around 20 min of steep hike form city centre and restaurants. The rooms have dated décor and wobbly furniture, in the bathroom I noticed rather sloppy housekeeping. Each room has old VCR player and there are plenty... More

We recently stayed here for 3 nights whilst exploring Hobart. I gave it 3 stars because it was just that - average. Pros of the room were: - It was huge. We had a spa suite so had a large room with big bathroom, spa, living area and separate kitchen - It was super clean and was cleaned each day... More

We booked a family room with 5 people for about half a week. The staff was always very friendly and helped however they could. We always had sufficient towels, and they even provided coffee and cookies. They even provided us with cooking oil and salt after having forgotten to buy it. The appartment is old fashioned, classical style, but there... More

5 mins from Hobart CBD (10 mins downhill walk - need to be good mobility-wise as pretty steep in parts), ideal for a place in town during the 'silly season'. Rooms are a little old fashioned/dated, but with that comes size and character. We will come again.

Had room 17 with two beds. My observations: 1. Clean with lots of very hot water (be careful) 2. Looks like grandma’s guest room with extra pieces of furniture, dark carpet and drapes (which cover the radiator. 3. Helpful and informative staff. 4. “Free WIFI” was less than 1 week old and weak/unreliable in room 17. Owner brushed it off... More

This is an unusual motel with interesting old decor. The staff are pleasant and the room facilities generally worked as expected. Location is not ideal for those travelling about town on foot as the roads around the motel are very steep. There isn't much to see or do in the immediate vicinity, however several places will deliver food. My room... More

My husband and I stay at the Mayfair for 4 nights and our room was very clean and plenty of space. We didn't arrive till around 11pm and our key was left in a security box by the reception door. We were on the first floor and the views into Hobart were stunning and the walk down to there was... More

Booked a room for two but got ugraded to the spa suite; comfortable, clean and well appointed. As the hotel is built on a hill 2/3 of the rooms are upstairs and the free car park is a challenge for longer vehicles. None-the-less a pleasant stay with friendly, helpul staff.
