Good for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Due to its central location in Battery Point the sober and functional motel is also convenient for pedestrians. It is just a 10 minutes walk downhill to Salamanca Place, the Waterfront and the City Centre. Close by on Hampden Road is one of the town's best breakfast spots: 'Jackman&McRoss'.
There is no communal space at the motel, but the studios with a kitchenette and a balcony are large and have all what one usually needs. There was a table with two chairs, a writing desk with a lamp, two armchairs, a wardrobe with shelves and clothes hangers, a cabinet with drawers, an empty fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom had a good shower, enough storage space on both sides of the washbasin, good toiletries.
Staff at reception keeps changing, there are about 6 working there in turns. Especially friendly were Meg and Anna, who both gave me good advices on eating places in Hobart. Checkout is at 10am already, as so often in Australia, but I could keep my luggage in a storage room till my departure early evening.

An easy walk to the Saturday Salamanca Markets at the docks. We had two stays there. First on second floor and the next on the 3rd floor. Definitely prefer the second floor location as the 3rd floor has no eaves and we could hear the rain much louder and open to the elements. Very clean, comfortable and good amenities. A guest laundry is available. A good pre-ordered continental breakfast is available for $4.50 from the reception which was perfect. Coffee standard could be improved. Be warned that the apartments are on two levels so heaving suitcases up to the bedrooms could be a challenge.

St Ives is located in Battery Point which is a great base for Hobart. Walking distance to the Salamanca Market and the shopping Mecca of Hobart (Elizabeth St).
Accommodation is spacious, with a kitchenette and small courtyard. Decent sized bathroom with large shower.
Parking onsite including in your room cost was a major asset.
We were located on the ground floor, right next to the reception desk. So it was quite loud in the morning. The hotel offers complimentary ear plugs; which I utilised and slept through the noise the next morning.
I’d definitely stay here again. Close to supermarkets which are in easy walking distance too.

Good location in Battery Point, close to Salamanca - nothing more positive to say Tired, dated rooms in need of a good clean Take copy of your cc upon arrival - thought I was back in Thailand as we have never experienced this in Australia. If you actually damaged anything it would only be an improvement. Staff give the impression they would rather be anywhre else, especially reception We were told staff could not service the rooms fully because of Covid measures, but were astonished when they would come in, change towels if required and empty bins, but couldnt use a vacuum, dish cloth or make a bed - and all this with no mask or gloves, but apparently Covid protocols are the reason for low service !!!! Really, people arent fools. If staff numbers because of Covid is the reason for the almost absent service, then just tell guests and they will be more understanding Dont stay at this poor establishment, many more better choices

The room is a good size, lots of seating options and the bed was comfortable. Likewise the bathroom had lots of bench space. It is a bit dated and pretty standard, but comfortable none the less. The property staff were helpful, checkin/out was simple (including after hours checkin), and it's good value for money. The location is an easy walk to the markets and lots of restaurants, but I would recommend driving during the evening (complimentary parking onsite).

We spent a relaxing couple of days at Snt Ives Apartments, the accomodation was great value for money and the location proved a highlight being only 5 minutes from the main restaurant and cafe strip in Salamanca Square. We had the largest studio apartment which had a kings size bed, a kitchenette and lounge area which was nice. Cleanliness and service couldn’t be faulted, the receptionist gave us some great tips for our East Coast tour on our last day. Fabulous location, simple yet wholesome accommodation, everything you need if you’re out and about touring Hobart.

Great reception welcoming & helpful. Lovely apartment & very clean. Comfortable bed with nice topper & choice of pillows. Good kitchenette, well set-up with cutlery, crockery, saucepans, microwave, fridge, Lots of little extras like toilet spray, scissors. Good lighting - all working. Large cupboard, drawers, desk. Wee balcony. Not much road noise or internal noise. Nice area to walk around and look at the old houses. Good parking. Excellent location for Salamanca, Battery Point & docks.

I asked for floor accommodation which was happily supplied. The room was fresh, clean, a small patio for privacy. Simple & sufficient enough for my needs. Staff was friendly, helpful towards me, asking if there was anything else I required, to ask & they would do their best to achieve. It was quiet, I heard no noise to awaken me during my stay. A 15 minute walk to the city going through a park certainly helped me to enjoy the time I stayed. There is a bus stop close by to go either into the city or to Sandy Bay shopping area. I shall be more than happy to return on my next trip to St Ives.

Fantastic location. Walking distance to Salamanca, Hobart waterfront, Hobart City, Sandy Bay, Wrest Point and of course Battery Point. Stayed in a large, spacious, clean apartment with a small balcony. The bed was comfortable. Shower was nice and hot with good water pressure. Plenty of powerpoints. It gets cold in the room but the air conditioning and extra blankets soon helped this boy from the tropics feel comfortable. Fridge, tea and coffee and all the basic utensils in the kitchen. The room was outside the main part of the building with entry into the carpark and Wifi was intermittent to put it kindly. It was fine inside the main building area, but it was frustrating! There is a bottle shop next door for the wonderful byo restaurants in the area, and there are many! Overall, a good stay and would stay again.

This place was a real find on our recent visit to Hobart. Just far enough out of the centre of Hobart to be quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to walk to many of the attractions. A short drive to the restaurants and supermarket in Sandy Bay, and easy walking distance from the heritage homes etc of Battery Point, the location is very convenient. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the bed very comfortable. There was also ample free parking, which was a bonus for Hobart, where every available car space is metered to within an inch of its life! Highly recommended.
