If you are looking for a unique, fun and affordable stay - this place is perfect. Reviewers are not exaggerating - one of the coolest places I've stayed at! Perfect location. Walking distance to Salamanca market, farmer's market, ferry to Mona, cafes/restaurants/bars and any other great things you'll be doing in Hobart. This is a b&b with shared bathrooms -... More

A real gem! Hotel Alabama was a rare find in Hobart: I saw the terrace and it got my attention, so I went to check the hotel...so beautiful! Hip, with a touch of quirkiness and bob gout, this hotel is simply a gem: super clean room with shared bathrooms, comfy and lovely. I loved the natural soap that they give... More

In all my years of travelling, I'd rank the Alabama right up there with the best of them. My partner and I stayed on a cold Hobart night and the Alabama was just perfect. Our room was quiet and cosy and the shared bathrooms were meticulously maintained. However, the best part of the Alabama is the bar. A great collection... More

Ayden and Kelly were such awesome hosts, all the tips they gave us about Hobart and the surrounding area were incredible and they were so accommodating of our requests. The room we had was cosy, the bathroom very clean, and the lounge area was so damn cool! I definitely recommend staying here.

Loved everything about the Alabama Hotel. It has art, class, warmth, great customer service and character. Starting with excellent communication and travel advice, even before we arrived. The customer service is charming and super helpful. The reception/bar/lounge takes you back in time, with the impeccable decor and paintings. Love the Bill Murray cushions. The bar has an excellent selection of... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Excellent, friendly service and while the rooms are simple and the bathrooms shared it's got tons of retro charm and the essentials are spot on, like the very comfortable beds and handmade soaps. The lounge is a great spot for a cosy drink, surrounded by art and books. Location is pretty perfect for exploring... More

My wife and I stayed at the 'bam' with our 6 month old baby for a week, and had a wonderful time. We were a little bit worried about how things would go with the little one, but the staff went above and beyond to give us everything we needed and make us feel comfortable. The price and location were... More

A wonderfully welcoming and relaxed environment in the heart of Hobart's CBD. Very affordable and a perfect base for exploring this gem of a city. For the older traveler it kindled fond memories of our backpacking past. Thanks to all at the Alabama, We'll be back.

This hotel is quirky! It's not like a conventional hotel - it's more like a b&b / family business / upmarket hostel / trendy bar. The decor is fun, the bar and terrace offer a lovely spot for a coffee or beer. Staff were fab, shared bathrooms were impeccably clean and the bedroom (street facing) was minimal but did the... We had a great stay at the Alabama while in Hobart for MONA Foma. The hotel had a fun retro vibe, with a comfy lounge area/balcony serving coffee and drinks (we particularly enjoyed Wayne's G&T's). The rooms are simple with comfy beds and very starch white sheets. The shared bathrooms were clean and despite a full hotel there was no... More
