We recently had two nights at the Henry jones art hotel and it was s fabulous experience. The location is ideal- walking distance to Hobart cbd, MONA ferry , Salamanca and many restaurants. The room was spacious, clean and the bathroom and toiletries great. Staff were very helpful and the bar attached to the hotel was excellent. The Indian restaurant... More

This was my 3rd stay at Henry Jones. Previously stayed in 2007 & 2013. Staff service was excellent particularly reception staff & Greg Ball who does the history tours. We had a air conditioning problem which needed the reception staff to reset our unit and this was handled very well by the reception staff. Bed linen, dressing gown & bathroom... More

My wife and I spend 4 wonderful nights in this lovely hotel on the standard harbour room overlooking Constitution Dock. We love the art works scatter around the hotel and the vibes in the evening. Having said that, it can be a tad noisy over the weekend if your rooms are just above the popular IXL Long Bar but my... More

Our experience at the Henry Jones was excellent. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. More interesting than a typical hotel. Front of house staff particularly accommodating and lovely touches in the room with turn down service. The bar is well appointed with live jazz on Friday night and the restaurant (Peacock and Jones) is well worth the visit with very... More

Strange hotel, with great staff, however the rooms are awful. I am not referring to the loft rooms. Just a standard room, as you enter the room there is a winding staircase to navigate. That's fine if you don't have luggage etc. you would never order room service. The thought of getting the tray down the stairs will put you... More

If you're art lovers like ourselves than you will adore this hotel! Brilliant service and we really appreciated everything being sourced locally. The renovation honours the original IXL Jam Factory building, the development makes it a unique and charming hotel to stay at. A piece of Hobart History! Perfect location in the heart of City if you want to explore... More

The Henry Jones Hotel is a stunning, elegantly restored hotel that does not have enough hot water. I was really impressed with the attention to detail -- they struck a perfect balance between maintaining the historical structure and providing the comforts of a modern luxury hotel. But then I had to take an awfully cold shower and was no longer... More

This is one of my favourite hotels in Australia. It is an old jam factory that has been rebuilt as a hotel. The rooms have a mix of exposed beams and sandstone walls that have been covered by clear glass so that you can still see the architecture as it was, but made practical. The staff are helpful from the... More

The hotel decor as part of the old jam factory is unique. Room was spacious with a ridiculously oversized bathroom, but there were some impractical features like a frosted glass wall between the bathroom and bedroom, which meant that if the bathroom light was turned on at night it illuminated the bedroom too. The bathroom exhaust fan was totally inadequate.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Australia's first dedicated art hotel stands proudly on Hobart's glorious waterfront. A handsome row of historic warehouses dating from the 1820s (the former IXL jam factory) have been creatively transformed into an enthralling multi-award winning first class hotel. The hotel itself is a work of art. Here you'll be fascinated by the unexpected combination of the antique and the ultra modern. ... more   less
