This is one of the most artistic hotels I've ever stayed in. Everywhere is art, art pieces are scattered everywhere on the walls, even the architecture of the hotel itself (just look at those exposed brick walls and beams!) is an art! We had no trouble checking in. April was such a sweet front desk staff, always having that lovely... More

Excellent location on the waterfront with lots of dining options nearby. The building, a former jam factory, has been tastefully renovated with spacious rooms including a large luxurious bathroom. The hotel also has a bar with a band playing some nights.

"I excel in all that I do" This was Sir Henry Jones' personal motto (hence IXL, apparently) and although much of it is still true at the old IXL jam factory, now the swish Henry Jones Art hotel, it does not extend to everything. On the upside, this is a fabulous historic building on the beautiful Hobart waterfront. The whole... More

We went to Hobart for 4 days for my birthday/anniversary. 2 couples with rooms next to each other. Looks onto the harbour front. We had the most luxurious and opulent time here! The rooms are all different but beautifully done with a great bathroom/spa and very comfortable bed/pillows. Service at this hotel is 5 star and better than any large... More

Just fantastic, I can not rate this hotel high enough, it was such a please to stay here we ended up staying an extra night then we had planned, The architecture is fantastic blending the historic building with the new - very well done BUT it doesn't stop there. The service was second 2 none The little touches were a... More

Me and my husband stayed here for just one right as part of our honeymoon tour of Tasmania. And all I can say is wow. Not only is this the most interesting place I have ever stayed, they went out of their way to make us feel so special. The hotel itself was undergoing renovations (not that you would know... More

Currently staying at the hotel and thought we would indulge in room service . Could not get through on the room service line , the front desk, the operator so tried to call on an outside line and still no answer. Eventually got through to front desk and ordered their version of a club sandwich with no egg. After over... More

The Henry Jones Art Hotel is the best place to stay in Hobart. It's well located near the waterfront, close to restaurants and a short walk to the Mona Ferry and Salamanca Markets. The building was an IXL jam factory and the industrial heritage has had a funky conversion. The rooms are large and interesting. The bar, cafe and Peacock... More

Business/Reward trip for approximately 50 people. Brilliant location next to harbour. Converted old Jam factory, with original wooden beams and stonework. Rooms are large and modern, bathroom spacious with spa bath. Well appointed. Art work throughout hotel. Had loft with small balcony. Would highly recommend.

This is one of the hippest hotels in Hobart and for good reason. The rooms, while not luxurious, are quite comfortable. Having components of the original structure in the room adds enormous ambiance. All staff members were encountered were courteous and full of good information. While we only had a short one-night stay and didn't have time to sample food... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Australia's first dedicated art hotel stands proudly on Hobart's glorious waterfront. A handsome row of historic warehouses dating from the 1820s (the former IXL jam factory) have been creatively transformed into an enthralling multi-award winning first class hotel. The hotel itself is a work of art. Here you'll be fascinated by the unexpected combination of the antique and the ultra modern. ... more   less
