These boys know their way around a cocktail ! These are experienced bar tenders who can whip up the magic on request. We had 4 different cocktails and every one of them was delicious. The preparation is a bit of a show and the team take it very seriously - and it pays off. This is by far the best... More

Love this place. My husband proposed here and they went to great effort to help organise things including local handmade chocolates. I'd go back. It's close to the markets and Defo go for the rotating restaurant for ni e French cuisine.

The Henry Jones Art Hotel has a tough competitor to deal with.. itself! Having set the benchmark for luxury hotels in Hobart and boutique conversions in Australia over it's 10 year existance, it's certainly set the bar quite high. Well I can tell you now, this Hotel is EVERYTHING that it markets itself to be. The building itself is so... More

Wonderful stay in this beautifully restored and converted historic building - formerly Henry Jones' IXL Jam Factory - decorated with original artworks by local Tasmanian artists. Our harbour view spa suite was spacious and spotlessly clean. It combines respect for history with modern comfort, featuring original exposed wooden beams, an exceptionally comfortable bed and a fabulous bathroom - plus original... More

This hotel is a lovely hotel but I do believe you have to be in to art to give it 5 stars. Stayed in the loft room. It was ok. The only complaint I have with it is no toilet upstairs, but having a living room instead makes up for it. Had a great breakfast in the atrium and had... More

The Henry James Hotel is delightful. The architecture is amazing and the rooms are fairly spacious. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The boutique hotel is only a short walk from key hot spots including Salamanca markets and the piers. Breakfast at Jam Packed was nice, but I would not recommend the room service. My favourite thing about the... More

from the moment we walked through the front door, we fell in love with this place. service, the accommodation (we shared the only 2 bedroom room which was the private residence of Henry Jones and his family) and food were top notch. cannot wait to return. Our room had the original timber spiral staircase in it. The view was spectacular,... More

The buildings extensive history is an experience in itself, we fully recommend the guided tour. This is also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the artwork on display. Our room was unique and quirky with a view of the atrium. Well worth the cost to have a life experience not just somewhere to sleep.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Australia's first dedicated art hotel stands proudly on Hobart's glorious waterfront. A handsome row of historic warehouses dating from the 1820s (the former IXL jam factory) have been creatively transformed into an enthralling multi-award winning first class hotel. The hotel itself is a work of art. Here you'll be fascinated by the unexpected combination of the antique and the ultra modern. ... more   less
