The hostel offers basic accommodation, clean enough and comfortable for a backpacker. The staff was friendly, but there's no atmosphere or communal spaces. Good location in the middle of Hobart though. As one of the only hostels I've seen in Tasmania there's free wifi all through the accommodation.

The location fit my schedule: easy shuttle ride from airport, convenient location for tour pick-ups, shops & restaurants within walking distance, and a convenient location from Salamanca Place. I spent most of my time exploring Hobart. Everyone at reception was helpful and friendly. There are several individual bathrooms with a shower, toilet, sink, and hairdryer. Towels and soap were provided.... More

The hostel was clean and located right in the city centre. You could get there from the airport by shuttle bus. Easily got my tour booked on the YHA website. Loved the bar next door! Staff were nice and helpful. The facilities were however very basic.

My First impression was this hostel looked dodgy, no character at all in the beautiful city of Hobart. It's a pokey hostel with lots of doors and stairs. The kitchen is tiny, and I haven't even bothered to check the lounge. On the positive side - staff are friendly, rooms are quiet, bathrooms are good, beds are comfy, and hostel... More

Stayed here for two nights and found the place good for a quiet, comfortable and CBD located stay. It was a nice touch to have free fresh towels and bars of soap provided daily in our clean and cosy 5/6bed dorm. The bathrooms were single private spaces with plenty of hot water. Kitchen is small but well equipped and cleaned... More

This hostel is not exactly in the city centre, even if it is not far. The rooms are clean but the kitchen is extremely small. There is not enough space for people to cook and eat. I would not recommend this place for more than one night.

Okay, I love YHA and the staff here are like most, they are the best, super friendly, helpful and patient and reason enough to stay in a hostel. It is in a good locaiton, close to the major attractions, waterfront, markets and transportation. The worst part of this hostel however is the kitchen which is far too small and crowded... More

Separated taps for hot and cold water, shower mixer a little confused, old materasses and a weird sack to put yourself in rather than bed sheets. There are neither lockers nor shoe raks, as a result the room aroma is exactly what you want it to be (as I net your dream is to sleep in a football club changing... More

We stayed for 4 nights is a family room with private bathroom. The location is very central to the dock area, the mall and the Salamanca area. The negatives are that there is no lift (stairs only) and 3 floors. Also, there is a town clock nearby that chimes every 15 minutes, but we were able to sleep with ear... More

This is the WORST hostel I have EVER stayed in. The kitchen is only big enough for about 4 people, and there's over 100 beds. The lounge is disgusting, the kind of place you don't want to touch anything. The bathroom smells like stale urine. But the worst part is the noise... There is a bar directly underneath which plays... More
