I stayed for 2 nights in the Miners Dugout. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They gave some great tips on things to see and do whilst visiting. You get 10% off a from a couple of the eateries in town by showing your room key. The accommodation itself was great. Comfortable, clean, modern and had everything you need. Such a unique stay that can only be experienced in a few places in Australia. Definitely a must when visiting Coober Pedy.

Hubby and I stayed 2 nights in this fabulous underground motel while visiting Coober Pedy. We were so surprised by how beautiful the inside rooms and public areas are. We had a queen bed room, the decor is classy and everything looks newly refurbished. Great modern ensuite with a lovely hot shower. It's comfy and super clean and the cave walls are a beautiful rugged golden honeycomb colour which looks rich and warm. The atmosphere is warm and frendly and the owner Nick and his wife are so helpful and welcoming. Free parking is on-site. You can climb the steps to the top of the motel for fabulous 360 views around town. WiFi and Netflix are available.

Stayed there 2 nights 10 & 11/9/2020. It was not so very hot outside but the underground hotel was cool. There's ceiling fan to add comfort. There is an air vent in the room and an extractor fan in the bathroom/toilet. Good comfortable setup. You can go up the stairs outside to the top of the "cave" where you get a good view below on the town.

Had a brilliant overnight stay at this unique and well-appointed motel. We booked the family room for two adults and three children. The room was spacious and loved the modern bathroom and fixtures against the beautiful textured sandstone walls. Nice and clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. A beautiful night’s sleep underground is what every traveller to Coober Pedy must experience! The vibe of this family-run motel is warm, friendly and absolutely professional. Look forward to staying again when we are in Coober Pedy!

From the warm and helpful welcome right through to our departure 2 days later, we could not find fault with any aspect of this unique and very restful accommodation. We stayed in the Miners Dugout which had everything we needed including an induction cooktop and suitable cookware. Management were excellent in helping us to change our booking and providing advice about local attractions and road conditions. Looking forward to staying again on the way back.

This is the second time that I have stayed here and would definitely stay again. The rooms are well appointed with ample amenities and the hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable about places to visit and eat. You can also get a discount at restaurants by mentioning the motel.

After staying at another place, which claimed to be the best, we moved here & stayed in 2 different rooms. The furnishing is simple but well done, much more stylish than other options in town. The motel room was great but we really enjoyed the Miners Dugout’s extra space & kitchen (especially considering lack of good dining options). Staff were friendly & helpful. Lovely views too.

Absolutely lovely. Renovated to a very high standard. We were very impressed. Cleanliness was to the max. If you're going to Coober Pedy really look no further than The Lookout Cave Underground Motel in McKenzie Road. It is certainly worthy of more than the 3 stars. There are two self contained units with cooking facilities, full size fridge and all utensils for preparing a meal and everything was absolutely spotless. Couldnt fault a thing.

Excellent rooms , very quiet and well laid out. Our hosts went out of there way to make our stay special. The views from our location looked over the town allowing us to take some fantastic photos both day and night

Loved staying here, staff were welcoming and extremely helpful, our room was clean and had plenty of space. It was exactly what we were hoping for - the experience of staying underground.

The only reason why I didn’t give the motel 5 stars is because of the noise from the hallway. Unfortunately a large group of people chose to play cards and hang out until late in the hallway, the noise traveled to our room. It would be good to remind guests that noise may travel through the underground hallway and to be courteous of others. This wasn’t a fault of the management and only occurred for two of our four nights we stayed. We would recommend staying here.

We paid $133.00 per night in April and LOVED it. There is parking and I am sure the lovely owners will be happy to accommodate a caravan. there was a very long vehicle with big trailer parked there while we stayed. The motel is clean, comfortable and a great experience. Climb up the steps and pathway to the "roof" at sunset and enjoy the view. I highly recommended staying there.

Yes our dugouts have kitchen facilities and there are also free BBQ facilities onsite available for all to use. The 3 dugouts that have kitchen facilities are our Queen Apartment, Miners Dugout or Budget Dugout. All rooms are available to view at our website. How many minutes walk it is from the tourist information centre ? Z
Answer from lookoutcave
Coober Pedy, Australia
Hi there...we are approx 1.5km's from the Visitor Information Centre. I am guessing it would take the average person around 20-25 minutes.
Answer from lookoutcave
Coober Pedy, Australia
Hi there, Yes the motel grounds are pet friendly but we have only one specific room allocated for this. It is the Miners Dugout 2 unit which is a 1 bedroom self contained underground unit. It is completely separate from the rest of the Motel and there is an additional charge for a pet as we use special cleaning solutions if a pet has been there. We strictly prohibit any pets in the bedroom. If you have any queries please contact us by phone.
