This large property has rooms which face busy Hindley Street, quieter Philip Street, and also rooms centred around internal courtyards. Our room which overlooked Philip Street was quiet, spacious for two, sliding glass door led onto a small balcony overlooking the street. Not ultra modern styling, but comfortable. Self catering with compact kitchen containing a large fridge/freezer, oven and four hotplates. Basic supply of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Bathroom was a good size, shower pressure fantastic and instant flow of hot water. A washing machine located in the bathroom an extremely convenient feature for travellers packing light. The Queen bedroom was small with just enough room to get around the bed. Comfortable bed, good pillows. Spare blankets in the wardrobe if needed. Reverse cycle air conditioner kept the apartment warm on several winter nights. The property is convenient to the J1 and J2 buses from the airport, which stop in Currie Street; a street just south of the apartments. Interstate Seniors Card holders are eligible for free Adelaide Metro public transport during their stay in Adelaide. Monday to Friday before 7.00am; and between 9.01am and 3.00pm, after 7.00pm and all day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Visit the airport information booth, ground floor on arrival for tickets. Also info. centre in the city. This ticket includes free travel to/from the airport, further locations such as Hahndorf and Glenelg during the applicable hours. Ticket valid for 14 days.

I am disgusted by this company, we had an apartment fully paid for for 3 days when we arrived to check in we could not get any parking as our car would not fit in their 2m parking facility. They suggested we go look for parking in the numerous other parking garages/secure lots. There was nothing available in a 3 block radius... we looked everywhere( that would take a vehicle higher than 2.1m. ) The area of this hotel/apartment stay is in a high crime area with druggies and drunks everywhere and shady people of all sorts. Our car had expensive gear on/in and attached to it there was no way we could park in on the street! And even if we could then we had limited time parking, so THAT was no good either!!! They could not offer us a solution, in fact did not even seem to want to help, so I asked if we could have our money back as they could not provide us a parking spot to put our car. They said” well, we are sorry but no we cannot give you your money back!” They said the room is ready for your stay, I said” how can you expect us to stay when we can’t even park our car in a parking bay!!!!!!” They replied... it’s not OUR PROBLEM! your room is ready. So we had to not only go and PAY for somewhere else to stay for 3 nights but they kept our money TOO! So we were out of pocket for a 6 NIGHT STAY. Not too mention the inconvenience of having to find a place, or that we had travelled a long way already and we were tired. None of that mattered either. I said to them you can’t even give part of our money back or another time to stay in the future, it was a flat “NO” to my enquires. In their view we should not have a car more than a normal sedan or standard passenger vehicle, we had a 4WD like 50% of the population who lives outside of the city. I said “ well you should state that on your website that you cannot provide parking for vehicles over 2m high, then we would of known not to choose this place... YOU STATE PARKING AVAILABLE!!!! This place as far as we are concerned... and EVERYONE else we have spoken too- even other hotels... said they should of provided you with a refund, or at least a stay another date.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback in relation to your booking. Like many, CBD hotels we have underground onsite car park. We have a height clearance of 2.1m and can easily fit 4wd such as a Holden Trailblazer, Land Cruiser & Nissan Patrol. As well as work vans such as Volkswagen Caddy, Renault Kangoo and VW Amarok V6. My understanding of your situation is that your vehicle is not a standard fit 4WD and requires a very high clearance requirement of 2.5m, unfortunately there is limited hotels and public car parks in Adelaide, which can assist with such a high height clearance. However, BreakFree Adelaide is within easy walking distance (less than 3 minutes) to a council operated open-air car park, which is provided for guests requiring parking arrangements for oversized vehicles and vans and I understand that this was offered to you as an alternative parking arrangement, which you chose not to utilise. As already advised, we were not aware of any date change requests; please do let me know when you are back in Adelaide and subject to availability, I would be happy to assist you with a credit against your accommodation. , Alison – General Manager

I have never been to Adelaide before and was really looking forward to my trip. I even think I was more excited about the accommodation, rather than Adelaide itself. I chose Breakfree because I prefer studios with laundry and full kitchen (and not traditional hotel rooms), however I have never stayed at Mantra before. Prior to my arrival I signed up for Mantra+ membership which promised me free wi-fi (I will definitely use much more internet while travelling rather than at home), late 12PM checkout (okay, cool) and a free drink. Thank you for offering me an early check in, I appreciate it. When I just entered the studio... well, it didn't look as nice as in the pictures online on their website... got a bit disappointed. The bathroom was absolutely tiny, but that's okay - I am tiny as well. Mattress was a bit too hard and the first night I woke up in the middle of the night with back pain. I decided to start my second day in Adelaide (first morning in Breakfree) with cooking some breakfast. Well, that's what the kitchen is there for, correct? 1. I used the oven. When it came to getting food from the oven, I started looking for an oven mitten... because that's what I think automatically about when I need to get food from the oven! And there was no oven mitten. Someone will say - well, use the tea towel. Yeah, I probably could have done that. But at that time I didn't think about it. Because I was looking for an oven mitten. I managed to get the food out of the oven, but this made me grumpy: no oven mitten. 2. Then I had to wash the dishes. And I couldn't find sponge. There was this blue Chux thing - but no proper sponge. But what if I need to scrub the dishes? How do you want me to scrub them - with Chux? Really? Or maybe I should do it with my finger? 3. No laundry liquid provided. Do you expect me - ME, a TOURIST! - to go to Coles and to get laundry liquid from there? And then I will use 10 ml - and what will I do with the rest of it? Leave it for you? Look, I am very spoiled by Meriton Suites. I stayed with them at Broadbeach (Goldy), in Zetland and Waterloo (Sydney) - and Meriton is very good. The sponge is already there in the kitchen, the oven mitten is also there in the kitchen when you arrive, laundry liquid is provided as well - and if you run out, you can call reception and ask them to send some more. And that's what I was expecting from Breakfree as well. Their prices are nearly the same. But look - no proper sponge, no oven mitten, no laundry liquid. I went down to reception and told the General manager that I couldn't find a sponge. She promised to send one up. And she did. They brought me Chux - which already was there. I can use it to wipe the surfaces, but I can't scrub with it. I told the general manager that I couldn't find the oven mitten, she promised to send one up. And she did. They delivered me a tea towel instead. I asked her if laundry liquid is supposed to be there, but - apparently - not. But hey, I don't see the point of offering guests laundry facilities with no laundry liquid. It just doesn't make sense. People come to stay with you for 1-2-3 nights, emergencies happen, do you think we are travelling with laundry liquid in our bags? 7 kg baggage limit with Jetstar, by the way. I also told her that wi-fi is very bad. It would connect. But it wouldn't load anything. I couldn't use the bank app; once wi-fi refused to send a simple email (just text, no images); I couldn't upload any photos. Very annoying. The general manager said they will look into the issue - but nothing happened. For all those 4 days I spent in Breakfree my wi-fi was horrific. Do you know what the general manager told me when I asked her about the wifi? She said: 'For now you can use the free Adelaide wifi'. Cool! Such a cool idea. I was ON HOLIDAYS! When I am travelling, I don't want to only look into my phone when I am outside. I wanted to see and experience Adelaide. And I only needed wifi when I was drinking coffee in my studio. As a result: in 5 days I used 50% of my monthly data allowance. I don't usually use much, but I do use data when I am travelling. I rely on wi-fi. What's the point of your wi-fi then? And yeah, no free drink either, because they don't have F&B facilities on site. Fair enough. Why not to give a guest a free bottle of juice from the mini-bar? Staff members? The only staff member who actually - warmly - smiled to me was the (probably) night manager, a guy with whom I didn't even talk, I was just on my way to the lift from the movies... Other people... do they even understand they work in hospitality? Anyway, it was not too bad, but it made me grumpy. And yes yes yes, I am spoiled by Meriton, Meriton is very good. But it doesn't mean that Mantra shouldn't be as good. It's okay. But not good. And I am disappointed.

Have a couple of swings from Perth and stayed 2 x 10 days at Hindley st, Adelaide. Walking distance from CBD office, lovely place to cook my meals. Every Friday, I had couple of walks to Adelaide central market and shop to prep my meals (breakfast, lunch to bring at the office, and dinner). Every Wednesday, I catch a bus to Wingfield which is just 10 mins walk. If the weather were warmer, I would have added the star for closeness to Jeffry Smart building, where I used to borrow the free bicycle to go to Glenelg beach
