While the majority of the staff were friendly and the wildlife both in and out of the water were amazing, we found that the resort itself was neglected. For the price we paid for the higher end rooms it was appalling. When we requested the room to be cleaned, other than making the bed we were hard pushed to see...

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children -14 and 11 years old) recently enjoyed a wonderful 4 nights on Heron Island. We experienced some very special nature encounters such as watching 3 lots of turtle hatchlings, a female turtle coming up onto the beach to lay her eggs and incredible marine and birdlife. The snorkelling around the shipwreck...

We came here via Luxury escape for 8 days. Sheer relaxation amongst nature. Accessible via seaplane for 30 minutes or 2 hr ferry ride. Ferry can be bumpy when there is a swell. It was amazing to be welcomed by newly turtle hatchlings making their way to the beach. Everyone was assisting thr turtles to make it to the water...

Great family holiday in ideal setting. From watching turtles hatching to snorkeling in crystal clear waters, it was an amazing experience. The staff are wonderful and very accommodating to families. Will definitely be returning.

We arrived exhausted and left relaxed and very happy after a wonderful week's stay last month. Here are the reasons why - My husband and I love snorkelling, so Heron became our adventure playground everyday from different vantage points on the island. THe first day we came face to face and swam with a loggerhead turtle, the largest we've ever...

Focus on the 99% of positives such as the pristine environment, friendly helpful staff, amazing snorkeling and diving, educational kids activities and you will be coming back to this amazing location again and again. This place is unique and...

Room, facilities, snorkelling trips etc all fantastic. Amazing wildlife and reef. Staff all really helpful and ready to assist. As a vegan family, we were pretty disappointed with the dinners but complementary breakfasts were good.

Room is very good over all, amenities very good, dive boat service very good. Restaurant has a very nice setting. Arrival & dept times could be more generous. Make sure you pick a time too visit in good when wx is good otherwise water visibility could be poor.

Wonderful place to visit!! For snorkeling and diving - amazing array of fish and coral. Turtles in water and laying eggs - and hatchlings heading down to the sea. Very children friendly - but be ready for some of them not treating turtles and hatchlings as they should!

So, this review is for people who love wildlife and the outdoors. It is not for people who complain about imperfect resort food. Our family of four (mum, dad and two 12 year olds) have loved our trips to Lady Elliot Island, but thought we would give Heron Island a try. We flew to Gladstone from Brisbane, took a Kwells...
