Everything was amazing, I can’t wait to return to Green Island. What a lovely resort and staff with so many inclusions for guests. The reef is on your door step and the crocodile park is abit of fun too.

Ah what a whirl wind, absolutely love my time at GIR! Only stayed the 1 night but it was plenty of time to soak it all up. The resort provides so many included options that the little extra in accommodation really is value for money. The room is spacious & comfortable, with a bath & shower, in room movies, luxury amenities items, bath robes, torch for night turtle watching, day bag. I was even given a late checkout so I could do another tour, without any issues. Loads of extras snorkel gear, stinger suit, wind sailing, beach seats & umbrella, canoe, complimentary drink, breakfast, glass bottom boat tour, usage of all these after check out. There was also night feeding & night tour but it started raining, so I think these were cancelled on our trip. I hadn’t snorkelled before & it was fantastic, so easy & so much amazing marine life to see, just near the beach. Crystal clear. I loved having a walk down the beach once everyone had left, it was so secluded, like it was just us on the island. The snorkel tour was great, so kind & helpful. Saw some turtles, stingrays, big fish & big jelly. Glass boat tour was also surprisingly really nice, saw some big GT’s, turtles, big clams, heaps of fish. We had the beach dinner hamper but sadly it rained & we had it at the pool, not to worry. However I did feel it wasn’t really dinner appropriate food, the prawns were pretty awful & I was hungry not long after. The burgers at the cafe were delicious. We had a lot of issues with reef fleet terminal parking and couldn’t fit our car under parking, this resulted in a fine for the second day. It might be helpful if the resort provided some details prior regarding the best options, going forward. Staff were all really nice & helpful. Overall, I would definitely come back & try some of the other tours or bring my kids back some day. Thanks!

We just returned from Green Island resort after 3 nights stay. At first we were a bit shocked how quiet the island was but actually really enjoyed the serenity and peaceful days on the beach and around the resort. Staff at the resort grounds were friendly and helpful, we felt very special having this little place of paradise to what felt like ourselves. We have been travelling to Cairns nearly every year over the last 30 yrs and have stayed on the Island before, usually it’s extremely busy with overseas tourists and day guests, however this stay was very different. If you’re looking for a quick little getaway or a longer stay i would highly recommend GIR. Rooms are lovely well appointed, roomy, clean and comfortable with aircon and rainforest outlook. Restaurant menu is well designed we only had breakfast and dinner, all food was well prepared and plenty. Snorkelling gear and stinger suits are supplied to hotel guests free of charge. We enjoyed the snorkelling right in front of the patrolled beach. We have noticed a decline in coral and reef around the area however noticed a lot of turtle and sea life activity. I guess that’s why we were shocked to see a couple of indigenous guys spear fishing turtles off the boat right in front of the swimming beach and the marine reserve on what we thought was a protected area. The day this happened there weren’t any lifeguards on duty. We loved our daily walks to the end of the boardwalk just to sit quietly and observe the turtles and reef sharks on the other side of the island. We certainly enjoyed our short getaway and we look forward to coming back next year, hopefully with less tourists the reef will get a chance to regenerate and sea life will continue to flourish. Couldn’t recommend this place anymore but keep in mind that because of Covid it doesn’t run to its full potential.

We had a fantastic stay on Green Island, they have done a great job managing the facility given COVID restrictions and reduced tourist numbers. It’s a great time to visit and a fantastic experience with little kids in tow. Well done !

We visited Green Island for 4 nights over Christmas, and it was fantastic. It was our first time in the Great Barrier Reef, and it was the kids first snorkel experience. We could not have picked a better location. Felt like swimming in an aquarium. Food at Emerald Hotel was great, especially Christmas lunch. It was a great selection. prepared to perfection. We could not finish it all. Service from staff and waiters were exceptional, and the rooms were very comfortable. Loved the fact that breakfast was included, and that we had access to the non motorised activities. Kids were sad to leave, but we will be back :-)
