Dunk Island is beautiful but if you want a peaceful trip you are in for a disappointment. The jerkoffs at the Sunset Cafe play terrible music at ear splitting levels until way into the night and some times very early (0600 on a Sunday morning!) Despite repeated requests from myself and others to turn the music down (or off!) and...

We spent the October long weekend with family and friends out at Dunk Island. We travelled from Mission Beach boat ramp straight to the calm part of the island. The camp sight was fantastic - very spacious, direct beach access and close to amenities. The water is very flat so great for swimming and especially water sports such as water...

The resort was destroyed during cyclone Yasi in 2011. **There are currently 8 unpowered campsites; 1-4 on one side of the island, 5-8 on the other. (Takes less than 2 minutes to walk from campsite 5 to the closest campsite on the jetty side) ** Sites 5-8 are definitely more sheltered from the wind. A number of people who were...

Pull down all the Cyclone wrecked buildings and turn into a total protected park , I can imagine what it was like when the only people there were iIndignous and didn't destroy every living thing . The Buildings are in a poor state the Sunset bar is a canopy and a tarp tied to a couple of Palms with pic...

We camped here for a few nights & it was an amazing experience. The views were breathtaking & waking up next to the beach with beautiful weather was definitely a bonus. It was $6.50 pp per night....who can complain at that? Camps sites were big enough for 5/6 tents. We had camp site 3..it was amazing! Parts of the beach...

A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUNK AND STUFF ON CAMPING. 3AM first night an intense low pressure trough hit. The wind swung south-west and intensified. My tent site was now on the exposed side of the Dunk spit camp area – for the next 3h it rocked and rolled. Threatened to take off for Cairns. So first light I switched to...

It's an easy 30 min/$35 trip to Dunk Island but the swimming and snorkeling opportunities are pretty limited, especially at low tide. There's a great bar with beautiful views and relatively reasonable food and booze plus live music

My friend and I visited Dunk Island for a one-night stay this past weekend and enjoyed low numbers of visitors, lovely wildlife and fun hikes regardless of pouring rain (get involved in the geocaching treasure hunt). We were spoilt with great hospitality from Ray, Zooey and Race, very fun staff that were great for a laugh. We purchased a camping...

Quite and experience for an "oldie". Dunk Island since the cyclone has not had any accommodation. However, one may visit the island for a day or to camp overnight. We departed on the Taxi from Wongalong (Mission Beach), spent the day on the island having an enjoyable lunch from the temporary beach shack and a good walk. The weather was...
