2nd visit to this lovely place. The swimming pool is what make it so relaxing. This visit we went for a swim up apartment which was well worth it. Special mention to Leanne and Gina who very attentively and swiftly dealt with an issue with our initial apartment. The restaurant is nice and has plenty of choice. This property is non smoking so if you are a smoker or vaper look elsewhere. If you are planning to purchase alcohol outside of the resort for consumption by the pool ensure it is not in glass or bring you own plastic cups. This is reasonable given the effort it would take to empty the pool should glass be broken in it. If you are wanting to avoid loads of kids go outside of school holidays.
This was the second visit and this time when booking through Booking.com, I didn't realise I was booked a privately owned apartment not managed by the Hotel. I thought I was booking a swim up room due to the slightly ambiguous title and wording and was a little put out when we discovered it wasn't - however, upon thinking about it, we were happy not to be near the pool for the noise. We had a huge inside spa which was fab! Balcony a bit overlooked and kitchenette needed more pair of glassware instead of 1 of this type of glass, 1 plastic glass etc, 1 broken glass - and washing up had to be done in the bathroom sink! Which in my mind, doesn't make it the as advertised 'kichenette'. A very disappointing experience in the restaurant food wise - overpriced and tasteless! Didn't go back... Plenty of amazing places to go in Port Douglas however. One thing I will say - the Spa is incredible! I've been there for both trips, and would happily visit again! Next time we visit Pot Douglas it's time for somewhere new for a more Adults only stay. Great for families with kids who love the pool... But a bit overcrowded at peak times, and 10pm curfew not ideal! On the whole, it could use a little facelift!…
So have been here a couple of times now, several months apart. The service in the restaurant is absolutely atrocious, the first time we were shamed for ordering an expensive bottle of wine, the second time, we ordered beer and waited over 20 minutes for them to arrive IN AN EMPTY RESTAURANT. The food the first time was extremely average, the second time the food was very nice, it was quick to arrive (arrived before our beers), and was well presented. However, back on the service, it was difficult to get drink service, the food was not cleared from the table, when the manager changed and went on break, the service got much better as when that manager was working the waitstaff would all just talk to the manager and not attend to tables, however then it got much worse shortly, they didn’t attend our table or offer any service. To make it worse, when getting the bill, they refused my Accor membership card, even though it is clear on the Accor website they should accept it, after pressing the management, they took the discount. Absolutely terrible service, just never go to this restaurant or resort, it is by far the worst service in port Douglas.…
We stayed in a 3 bed villa for one night. At more than $900 this was extremely expensive and poor value for money. It was sold as a beach villa but there is no direct access or beach view. Sleep quality was good but the villa is large and sparsely furnished and dated. There is little privacy between villas. On arrival I provided my credit card for pre-authorisation but was then refused service at the pool bar as the person who checked my in hadn't written down the number ! You are a long way out from Port Douglas and there is very little to do in the area.
Our dining experience was awful! We will never eat there again. I ordered the crumbed barramundi & I’m fairly certain it came directly from a Birds Eye box from Coles. The other guests had the crab baguette & the Niçoise salad and they were not happy with taste or quality of their dishes either. Do yourself a favour & eat at one of the many lovely restaurants in town.
Lovely gardens, great pool, strange but comfortable rooms and aside from a couple of staff, truly terrible service. In our seven night stay and despite several requests to housekeeping, reception and the duty manager our room was never vacuumed, cleaned other than fresh towels. Rubbish wasn’t cleared, pillows left on the floor and so on. Breakfast and poolside staff appeared very unskilled and need some serious customer training.
The hotel was saved by the amazing pool. The rooms are pretty dated and there were a lot of ants in the room. This was an okay place to stay, but price wise it doesn’t match what you can get elsewhere. Buffet breakfast was average, coffee was great though. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Restaurant food was average, I had the pork belly which was ginormous and served on what tasted like purée baby food apple sauce. This is completely out of the hotels control but people by the pool on speaker phone constantly really took away from the relaxing. Headphones are your friend!
A lovely extended (older) family vacation in tropical Queensland. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa (myself and husband, my parents, brother, aunty and grandma). So Spacious, we all had so much room. Loved the private pool and beach access through the gates. Breakfast buffet was okay (limited selection) but Giorgio the head chef was amazing. He was so accommodating and made us fresh to order crispy bacon and spinach daily. He went above and beyond so thank you very much. We didn’t swim in the main pool as there were too many kids. It would be lovely if there was an adults only pool. Dinner at Aluco was nice. Drinks/cocktails by the pool were average. Some hits and some misses.
The resort promotes itself as 5 star, however if you stay in a studio room prepare to be disappointed. Advertised amenities such as mini-bar and Illy coffee machine were not provided. There is no laundry service available; they will tell you where the nearest laundromat is (5km away in the centre of Port Douglas). They promoted an offer of $25 discount if you declined room service on a particular day with a noted maximum of 2 consecutive days, however when we checked out having taken up the offer 3 times, they said it could only be used twice and they tried not to honour the agreement. Do not rely on the outside hours room service, if you can find a current menu you will be extremely disappointed with the available selection. I must advise that the majority of the staff were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful but they cannot deliver what the management does not provide.…
Absolute paradise. Stayed here for 7 days with my husband and toddler, we had the BEST TIME. This resort is beyond gorgeous, staff are so helpful and lovely. We stayed in a garden view apartment with our own rooftop spa and bbq area. So spacious and heaps of room for our little one to run around. Next time we will stay right near the pool, because we absolutely loved the pool and swam all day everyday. Buffet breakfast is a must, lots of variety and delicious coffee. Recommend lunch & dinner room service, everything on the menu is so yum and 10000% recommend pampering yourself at the day spa. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. I am a very fussy person but I cannot fault this resort at all. There is a great IGA supermarket nearby that had everything and a really fun wildlife park that my family loved.…
