I have stayed in lots of cheap hostels across the world and this was by far the worst. When I got there I couldn't get in as there was nobody in the reception. When I called the number (that was super expensive as I didn't have an Australian sim) nobody picked up for a while. When I got to my... More

This is by far the worst hostel i have ever stayed at. The kitchen was so dirty that we didn't want to make food there, they did not emty the trashcans nor wash the bathrooms. There was no place to eat/spend time outside the dorm when it was raining.. Avoid this place guys, we found much better for the same... More

Nobody was there when I wanted to check in at the scheduled time. So I had to call. There was no breakfast even though the guy checking me in said so. You make them not liable for your stuff being stolen by signing a paper, but they don't even have lockers! At least the rooms are locked all the time.... More

There is no free breakfast and no 24h reception as they state at their website. The fridge is broken for a long time already as is one of the four gas pits. Therefore you cannot keep your food cool. The bathroom has no lock, not even an doorknob actually but the room itself is nice and cool. Roommates towels got... More

In our two months of working for accomodation at the lazy duck we made a lot of friends and met some awesome people. In the end, it was really hard to leave. Having BBQ at the hostel was always great, good music, lots of goon for only 2-5$. Also, the hostel has changed a lot since we first came there... More

Air cons awesome, wifi is awesome, owners are good guys and the cartaker stefan is a top bloke. Super chilled out, Good vibes! They need a new fridge though.. Really good place to work, you only have to work 2 day per week for accomodation. Its quite cheap to stay tho anyway. Definetly the best hostel im cairns!

We stayed here nearly 2 weeks and we had a really good time. The staff are really friendly and funny. They hold cheap bbq and pizza nights and have a pool party once a week which is really cool. The rooms are cleaned every day and they have a nice yard to sit with a pool which is needed beacuse... More

I stayed at lazy duck around 10days, the stuff is very friendly and helpful. I loved the atmosphere, everyone is relaxed and layed back. The swimming pool is completely covered by shade (very important, its too hot here!) and the poolparty was the topic of my stay there! Defenetely recommended to stay there if youre in cairns !
