The location of this hotel is pretty good- walking distance to water front and restaurants etc. however the place was cold and sterile. It felt like an old hospital.

We travelled to Cairns by train from Brisbane. Depends on what you mean by 'late'.
We saw reception staff available still available at about 10:00pm but I suggest your enquirer might be best to contact hotel to confirm.

They did for us when our flight was rescheduled due to a typhoon. I offered to pay, but they didn't seem to mind for a couple of pages. Waiting til its quiet at the front desk and there is a friendly face probably helps.
