Travelled with Oz Tours and were put up in the permanent tents with beds. Clean and comfortable but no power and a short walk to the donger amenities. The food supplied for the tour groups was excellent = restaurant standard. Good wildlife viewing options in the very early morning or on dusk as long as you keep 5m+ back from... More

We stayed for 2 nights on our way south from the tip of Cape York with Oz Tours. There is a very welcoming feel to the place on the banks of the Wenlock River. There are 3 levels of accommodation - your own tent, on site glamping tents and cabins with ensuites (dongers). We were delighted te be in the... More

Camped here on the way north, what a wonderful spot. The staff were super friendly, the grounds were grassy, well maintained and there were tons of big mango trees for shade. The place had such a lovely vibe, there were walking tracks around the property, great waterholes for fishing, tons of birds and wildlife. The camp toilets and showers were... More

Visited on Outback Spirit tour. It was OK, but lacked the atmosphere of Lotus Bird lodge. Management efficient, but maybe a little less dedicated. Nice walk to Barra Hole, led by our Outback Spirit guide. The history of Moreton Telegraph station was interesting to read and to see.

This place is remote, like the Lotus Bird Lodge, and both provide excellent facilities for such distant places. There is no alcohol provided; you need to bring your own. The food is good, though. We stayed in cabins and they were much better than your average donga although the noise from the generator was a bit annoying. We were with... More

We are heading well north of Cairns and stayed at the Moreton Telegraph Station as part of a group tour. Very clean rooms set up on the edge of a camping area. My only complaint was that when you were inside the cabin the place was confining as there were not big doors to open out onto balcony but the... More
