Bargain accommodations, you get what you pay for, no frills, rooms clean and tidy, bed was comfortable, air conditioner worked well, pool area was very nice, restaurant take away was great, all in all we had a nice couple of day.
I stayed here in 2017, not 2019 but it wouldn’t allow me to change it. This place was great! A multi-story complex with units scattered around a pool that lit up blue of an evening. I thought noise would be an issue but we didn’t hear much at all during our stay, just background playful banter of people in the pool enjoying themselves. The staff were super friendly but their English wasn’t great. They were a little slow upon check-in but standard for the usual rush hour. I haven’t had a chance to get back to Cairns since but I’d definitely stay here again.
We stayed here in early December and even though the Hotel is a little dated it is very clean. The owners also have a restaurant attached to the motel & the food is exceptional. Our room had a small kitchenette in it which was very handy . The staff & owners were very friendly & obliging. The pool was a bonus . We would recommend the Cairns New Chalon.
The woman that manages the front desk and guessing also the restaurant was so rude. Absolutely no respect for the guests in the resort, the staff speak very little English and cannot even understand the simplest of sentences such as “can we please have 4 new towels” we were then given floor mats. Very frustrating. They have a pool amenities on premisis but expect all guest to use their own personal towels. Never have I ever had to stay at a motel that has a pool and doesn’t supply the guest with towels. When asking the same so called lady manager if we can please have towels for the pool she straight away got her back up started yelling at me telling me to read the pamphlet that they don’t supply towel to then me walking away because she was getting quite loud to her then following me out of the reception area and still yelling at me that “it’s budget accomodation, use your own towel” so overall customer service was a complete let down. The room we booked online was a “deluxe 2 bedroom apartment” all I can say is false advertising. Do not always rely on photo’s, we were given two adjoining rooms with a double bed and single bed in each. If that was deluxe I would HATE to see what a regular room looks like. Cairns New Chalon you will be never see us again…
This motel seems to get very mixed reviews. My experience was just awful. The motel is basically an old, budget accommodation but it has been refurbished and is comfortable and clean. The price was right and the pool garden area was lovely. The restaurant looked good. The location was poor particularly if arriving from the north. The main downfall however was with the staff. The man on reception had limited English and no charm but we muddled through. After check in I went to the restaurant to see if it appealed for dinner. I was met with all smiles and after looking around I said we would we would return later. I noted that there were only two diners present.I then went to the pool gate to look around before returning to my room.I was suddenly confronted by the woman from the restaurant who launched into a verbal attack. She literally screeched at me. I had real trouble understanding what she was on about but it appeared that I was some sort of spy or health officer or whatever and I had not requested her permission to enter the premises. Her tirade continued in front of a few other guests who appeared to be equally mystified. She ordered me to immediately leave but in the same breath said that she was calling the police. I invited her to do so but her attitude changed slightly when I produced evidence that I was a checked in guest. In many, many years I have stayed at countless hotels, motels and resorts all around the world but I have never encountered a situation as bizarre as this. She ruined our stay and obviously we went elsewhere for dinner. I also noted that there were very few guests and perhaps she was frustrated but as manager (as she described herself) she needs to reflect more on her role and how to deal with people in a rational manner.…
