This was my first time staying at a hostel and it exceeded all expectations. The accommodation exuded warmth and charm and you can't help but feel comforted as you stepped through the gate, where there's a smiling face and helping hand wherever you go. The twin room was comfortable, with TV and bar fridge. The bathroom and toilet were fresh and clean. There are many kitchens which are well stocked with everything you need and you're never short on space to chill out, whether it's at the pool, in a hammock/beanbag, in the yoga space, or in the garden with the chooks (who are very entertaining characters). It is also a very eco-friendly place, with recycling and composting which is always an A+ from me. Free bike hire is available, of which John was kind enough to accommodate my early need to get out and about (talk about VIP service!) Of course, such a gem only exists because of the captains helming the ship, of which John and Tina steer with grace and care. Good communication and easy to have a chat to, they have instilled Tropic Days with the core principle of heart, joy, and fun. Please never change. Tropic Days is more than a place to stay the night, it's a home away from home.…
By far the best hostel in Cairns! Amazing staff (John and Tina are legends) and overall really beautiful place. A bit of a paradise if you are looking to meet some new people, relax by the pool, and enjoy time in the sun. I never wanted to leave because I felt so at home there and it was very clean and comfortable. A bit of a walk to the Lagoon and central, but perfect if you don't want a loud 'party' place, and they have free bikes to hire!
Amazingly friendly staff, clean room, great service with travel tips, free bike hire, gold coin donation community cook ups on Monday nights, free breakfast and fresh produce! My friend and I loved our stay here so much we extended our time :)
Great accommodation, stayed here for 6 weeks in total due to corona & isolation.. good size rooms, social área & pool. There’s 3 fully equipped kitchens so it’s not too busy to cook. Abit out the centre of town but only a 2 min drive. Kathy the owner was unbelievably helpful in helping me find work as everything was on lockdown she wrote a letter of confirmation that I have been isolating and put me in contact with a farmer as I’ve desperately been looking for work for a visa extension.
Such a beautiful place! A home away from home. Booked for 2 nights, ended up staying longer than a month. If you’re looking for somewhere with a relaxed atmosphere and a homey feel this place is great. It’s 2 converted houses so doesn’t have that artificial hostel feel that you get in some places. Has a special place in our hearts.
