We stopped by The Jack for a couple of beers the other day and found the place to be pretty cruisey and laid back. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Cool bar that looked as though it would 'go off' on the weekends.

The jack is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at and that's why this is my second stay. Super clean, the rooms get cleaned everyday and the common areas at least twice everyday which is really appreciated! The free meal has gotten better during the months I've stayed so that's also really good. It might be a bit...

Lovely clean hostel, large rooms with a locker and place to store your things. Rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard, free dinner in the evening is a massive bonus. Great location, very central. Would recommend to anyone!

I am currently staying at the Jack with my friend in a 'double deluxe' room. However, there is nothing 'deluxe' about this place. I understand that with it being a hostel the accommodation won't be great but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad. The bed's are very uncomfortable and make a horrible screeching noise every time you move...

The rooms were fine, and it has a bar/restaurant attached to it which is cool but not cheap. Always buy water from the supermarket! It's in a good location but don't count on the free evening meals as we found they were a very strange mix of foods, but if your hungry you will eat it

I stayed at this hostel two separate times, in a 4 bed room with bathroom en suite and an 8 bed room with shared bathroom, and ironically had a much better experience in the cheaper 8 bed room. The en suite bathroom makes it very difficult for the air conditioning to keep the room cold, so these dorms end up...

I really enjoyed my time in the Jack. I was in the Jack in January 2016. I was wondering if will be still the same, I remembered that the staff was really friendly and help with anything you needed and the room were the cleanest rooms I ever had in a hostel. I came back and it was exactly the...

I' ve stayed already in November 2016 at the Jacks and loved it so much that I came back for 6 weeks in January. This hostel is the cleanest one I have ever seen. Especially Harriet and her housekeepers, everyday they are do a great job. You get a free dinner every evening but unfortunately they don't have special food...

I stayed at The Jack and it has been the most comfortable hostel I have stayed in Australia so far. I stayed on the side attached to the reception office. The rooms are spacious, ensuite and each have a refrigerator. The aircon is fantastic. The wifi is free and works great. Each person has their own locker and tub to...

Hi, I've stayed in 5 different hostels in cairns. I ended up staying in the Jack from June on until December. The difference between this hostel and any other one is just it gives backpacker the feeling of being home. They've got loads of space, the rooms are nice and clean, the common areas are very comfortable and spacious. It's...
