My first time in Cairns and only for a day and a half. Arrived feeling rather ragged after 90 minutes in a slow, cramped minivan. So feeling rather uninspired. Check in changed all this as staff were fast and friendly. Also advised that I was to be given a room upgrade. You can’t beat that for a check in experience! I guess I was paying a reasonable amount, but the fourth floor tower room I landed in was way beyond expectation. A nice big airy room, with quality furniture and the most extraordinary balcony and view. In fact, so good I cancelled a day trip so I could spend more time there soaking in the view. It really was a room to relax in. (I will point out I have stayed in many luxury hotels all over the world so am not too easily impressed.) From what I could see it is in the ideal situation to wander Cairns by foot too. The other big positive with the staff who seem to take on things not just efficiently but with a genuine sense of friendliness and humour. One girl in particular made me out right laugh! I wish I knew her name. All up, a very good experience. Thank you.

Hotel a bit out dated appears struggling from COVID room was nice and clean room was over pub down stairs a lot of noise at night until midnight. Buffet breakfast was nice still COVID restrictions in place so staff to serve you which all ok walking distance to shops for dinner and Casino at night.

We have stayed at Shangri-la Cairns previously and enjoyed it so much it is now the only hotel we stay in when visiting Cairns. This time we booked a one bedroom suite which was on the 4th floor with magnificent views of the Marina and the Esplanade; having a balcony off the bedroom and another off the living area. The room furniture was looking tired but the suite is particularly spacious with 2 entrances to the bathroom. Bed is very comfortable as are the pillows. Bathroom amenities are L'occitane - my favourite. This time we enjoyed the Horizon Club which offered breakfast and evening wine/canapes. Excellent selection at all times. All staff are absolutely fantastic. Always friendly and helpful. A particular thank you to Ramlen our housekeeper. Her attention to detail was spot on. We have already booked for next year.

Stayed here recently for 7 nights in a Horizon Club Suite and enjoyed nearly everything about our stay. The suite was spacious with fantastic views of the marina. The location was also excellent with all attractions, restaurants and shops easy to get to from the hotel. The staff were always cheerful and very eager to help. The service and standard of food in the Horizon Club Lounge was also very good. The only downside was the need to queue for food. I know that COVID has caused changes to how Club Lounges operate but other hotels seem to have adapted in ways more to my liking (although I must admit other guests seemed to be very happy to queue). Overall, the Shangri-la hotel is definitely highly recommended.

We had a quick one night stay in transit and was blown away by the service of all the staff, from Camille in booking all the way to Tom who handled our entry and exit with professionalism that far exceeded many of the ultra high rated hotels I’ve been to worldwide. Whilst the hotel was great in itself, the service set this experience apart and we truly look forward to returning. Ten points for Tom!
