We paid extra for a balcony room. Don’t! The balconies are very close and are used by people to smoke. And the sliding door is loud to go onto the balcony. So we could hear everytime the room next door kept going onto the balcony to smoke. The door made a loud noise whilst sliding and a bang on shutting. And then the cigarette smoke..and the noise of people laughing sitting on the balcony. The balcony edge of the neighbour is very close to the second bed of the twin we had so my kids were awake all night. It was awful. And the toilet kept running. It was terribly stained. We were on level 4.
The cafe is really nice for breakfast: nice space and the food is great. Everyone at the hotel is super friendly. The reason it loses points for me is that the bathroom was awful. There was no ventilation whatsoever. The shower was not adjustable in height, so I had to crouch to fit under the head. The temperature control was impossible too... if you put any more than about a millimetre of hot tap on it was scorching, even with cold on full pelt. That meant the pressure was also only half of what it could be, that is, very weak. Everything was good but the shower discomfort was enough to turn me away for next time.
Where do I start. Arrived Saturday 30th Jan. to a very low key greeting, no one helped with our bags. Checkin was ok but had to change rooms due to construction next door, right outside our window, with a view of the construction site. Went out all day and placed the " Please Make the Room " , only to come back to the room not made. The room was appalling as you can see on the attached photos. The 5 Star rating at the hotel should be re addressed to read 3 Stars as we have used the Pullman in other States of Australia and Countries and found them to be of high quality. I am extremely disappointed as these 3 nights were for my wife's birthday. You have a coffee maker in the room that was tested and tagged in 2015 as you will see in one of the photos...... this is illegal as they are to be tested every 12 to 24 months I believe. (Accident waiting to happen ! ). Also coffee stains on the entrance to the bathroom. …
Following my previous review I we were invited to stay once again by the manager. Our stay started with a very friendly greeting at the reception desk, we were checked in with no additional fee just after 9am. This time we were in one of the suites on the 13th floor, the room itself was much much cleaner than our previous stay. There were some minor maintenance issues with the room which were tended to promptly. The pool was open on this occasion and the water temperature is near perfect, a magnificent way to spend a Brisbane sun set!
Perfect spot to stay in town. Great for a get away. Had our conference there. Enjoyed my stay. Hotel is older but still clean and service is great. Close to everything in town. Walking distance to shops and Queen street mall.
