Coconut Grove Holiday Apartments was a perfect overnight stay before our road trip, it’s a clean and comfortable stay, the pool was lovely to cool off while adjusting to the heat and humidity. An easy check-in process for after hours arrival. Thankyou for a lovely stay.
Friendly, efficient, welcoming staff. A clean, fresh, tasteful suite. Lovely tropical vegetation throughout. Efficient air conditioning and fans. Close to beaches, the airport, the centre of Darwin and easy access to highways out of Darwin. The only concern was the slowness of the in-house internet, but our phone personal hot-spots worked perfectly.
Booked a queen motel room for three nights and was thrilled (and grateful) to be told at check in of our complimentary upgrade to a one bedroom apartment. Service at check in was good and hassle free. However, I don't know how I feel providing my photo ID for it to be photocopied and kept by the property (have never had this done before). We ended up staying an extra night and it was no trouble for them to arrange this. The apartment (top floor, no lift) was clean but dated. Having a full kitchen with cookware, crockery, cutlery, etc. supplied was convenient, as was having a microwave and full fridge and freezer. The bed was very comfortable, water pressure and temperature in the shower was great. As this was our first time in Darwin, the free parking, on site laundry and very good location were all bonuses. No major negatives - curtains in the apartment were dirty, air con was noisy (but effective, thankfully), a family of noisy and abusive bogans turned up on our last day and was unfortunately staying in the apartment next to ours (not the property's fault but still not fun when you get to hear them yelling at each other at all hours, and having their noisy and annoying children repeatedly running past your door). Wifi was free but super slow. Didn't use the pool as we were put off by the fact that it didn't look clean. Good value for money overall.…
The rooms are simple but comfortable. A bit dated, but renovated in part. Main attraction to us was location, pet friendly (small dog) and reasonable price. Our room (King 1 bedroom apartment) had a full kitchen and met our needs for our almost 3 week stay.
I'm hesitant to recommend my secret favourite place because it's so cool and beautiful, and I'd hate it to change, but I have to admit it's ideal for me. I've stayed here every time I've passed through Darwin in the past few years. There's a lot of greenery and it's a 5 minute walk to shops and a supermarket, 10 minutes to a gym and 15 to the beach at Nightcliff which also has markets in the Dry season. Staff are friendly and helpful. The only drawback for some would be that there's no lift to upper levels. The rooms with kitchens have everything you need to do your own cooking.
